How do you protect sub- sea infrastructure. You ensure that the @naval_service is fit for purpose and is in a position to get an adequate number of vessels to sea, patrolling. It's time to fix defence @SimonHarrisTD

There is something off when an Irish MEP in the safe western fringes of Europe & in a safe country questions Ukraine’s accession to EU-Ukraine is not joining anytime soon so why this focus? Undermining Ukraine’s European future
Sad but not surprising. I’ve questioned Ukraine’s preparedness to join the EU and whether lessons would be learned from 2007. Some want it join merely because they hate Russia. Not a good enough reason to bring more organised crime and corruption into EU apnews.com/article/ukrain…

Joe is again drawing from all that intellectual skill & nous that he consistently displays in abundance in his public discourse & that always truly befits the logical & nuanced argumentative reasoning society would naturally expect from a barrister. 😉
Joseph wants us to believe Russia will invade us. Such 1st degree wankerism.

Can we now acknowledge that “a wing and a prayer” isn’t a policy for our security and defence. We can’t continue to hope that everything will be ok. There are real risks to our security and economic wellbeing. Not having sufficient energy security, is gravely irresponsible.

Going by some comments, some don't understand just how vulnerable most undersea infrastructure is. #Baltic Connector taken out by a bandy old container ship simply dragging anchor. €40m worth of damage & no gas for 5 months. Same risk with ship "repair" vessel & subsea cables.
Large increase in #Russian "shadow ships" making use of #Ireland's sparsely monitored EEZ. I saw this risk building, I was invited onto national radio 2 yrs ago & I explained it. Russia will exploit weakness anywhere it sees them in Northern Europe. rte.ie/radio/radio1/c…

From many of the reactions here, it is worth pointing out that 'the economy' is not somebody else's greasy till. In this case, it is hundreds of thousand of workers whose livelihoods depend on American companies. It is the tax revenues* that pay for the treatment of sick people…
Democracies have interests and values. Putting values before interests is unusual in foreign policy, particularly when interests are sacrificed. That is what has happened with Ireland's Israel/Palestine position, and the costs became abundantly clear this past week. Delusions…
