I have a new article out in Industrial and Corporate Change, where I make the case that ”soft budget constraints” can be good for innovation. academic.oup.com/icc/advance-ar…

It’s actually worse since it’s happening right now and could still be stopped

We tax to make them less rich. If it makes them less rich , then it’s good. Gov doesn’t need their money, and hence these arguments against higher tax on the rich because it reduces revenue, are null and void.
“Tax me! Tax me!” Even as the evidence continues to roll in that increasing taxes actually reduces the income, NPC continue to cheer for their own demise.
“In particular, 2023's marine heat waves (MHWs) exhibited the longest duration, widest extents, and highest intensities on record—and 2024 wasn't any better.” phys.org/news/2025-07-m…
please read my insanely embarrassing piece in the NYT "It's Bad—Why I Revised My Thoughts Regarding Poo Poo" that I was paid $90000 to write
“Since 2002, 75% of the population lives in 101 countries that have been losing freshwater water. Furthermore, the continents now contribute more freshwater to sea level rise than the ice sheets, and drying regions now contribute more than land glaciers and ice caps. Urgent…
Feels like we've stepped into a time warp to spring 2024. The Trump administration really leaning into the learned-helplessness routine—shucks, if only we had some leverage over Israel—that defined the Biden era wsj.com/world/middle-e…
Stage 1 of genocide did not begin after October 7th—Stage 7 preparation did. Because this genocide began with the colonization of Palestine. Gaza was already one big concentration camp, isolated from the world by the occupation for 16 years. (7/)
‼️‼️THREAD: One thing that I have not seen discussed nearly enough in discourse about Gaza is the scale of intent and accusation in a mirror. There are ten stages of genocide. Zionism had already completed many of the first steps long before October 7th. 🧵

From Peggy Noonan, Reagan’s most well-regarded speechwriter
You can read accounts of people in the Reagan administration and they say the Gipper just believed in whatever piece of paper he read last.
No one can say they didn't know a genocide was happening
Netanyahu: "You must remember what Amalek has done to you, says our Holy Bible" 1 Samuel 15:3 "Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass"
🚨 Horrifying scenes : Aerial footage shows the complete destruction of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza. According to Israeli sources: “We didn’t leave a single stone standing.”
Actually to the extent that financial costs are passed to goods and services as production costs they are counted. There is a well-known established effect, Gibson’s Paradox (Keynes named it, if I’m not wrong), about the positive correlation between interest and the price level
When the Federal Reserve jacks up mortgage rates, credit card rates, and auto loan rates on millions of Americans, the federal government doesn't count that crushing inflation as inflation. thebignewsletter.com/p/strikes-and-…
Energy efficiency is bad because it doesn’t increase GDP
The general view of the UK economy is that it's been stagnating for decades now. But on some of the most important metrics it's actually going backwards...
People in the global north used to have lots of kids when living standards were improving rapidly. People in the global south used to have lots of kids when living standards were abysmal. Both things have changed.
Fertility crisis is not that mysterious. Everywhere in the world young adults are uncertain they can maintain a job and decent lifestyles long term as they’re constantly reminded their livelihood is provisional to the market and finance, and you expect them to think about kids?
