The problem here is that the facts asserted are not facts. The western press keeps reporting that Hamas is dragging out negotiations when Israel is extremely straightforward about the fact that it refuses to end the war. Even if a ceasefire is achieved, Netanyahu says, they…

You actually have a responsibility to anticipate these “changes”. to lead not to lag @mattyglesias @DouthatNYT

It’s possible I’m desperate to the pt I cannot even be cynical: maybe Pres Obama finally speaking will save lives. Still, it says a great deal abt our liberal political establishment that Israeli hostages & NYT articles are the first & only objects granted agency or value here…
While a lasting resolution to the crisis in Gaza must involve a return of all hostages and a cessation of Israel’s military operations, these articles underscore the immediate need for action to be taken to prevent the travesty of innocent people dying of preventable starvation.…
We need the Hague
This is true and fair and the accountability will absolutely come at the next election.

This is true and fair and the accountability will absolutely come at the next election.
When did appealing to a "big tent" become a defense against any type of accountability, or even engaging in a moment of self-reflection, for people with power or influence?
Inflatable Elon Musks doing a Nazi salute have been put up outside the Tesla diner in Hollywood
Incidentally @ZohranKMamdani has a bill in Albany that would do essentially this
If Columbia has this kind of money to pay the extortionists in DC, then they should have no problem paying their fair share in property taxes to the City. nytimes.com/2025/07/25/nyr…
Just Cory Booker posing with an internationally wanted war criminal and champion of apartheid in front of a picture of Frederick Douglass.
Three weeks after the International Criminal Court charged Yoav Gallant with starving children to death:
It’s true, Biden voted for the Iraq War, was given a pass by Obama, and then went on to do something even worse in Gaza.
A major lesson of the Bush era is that when there is no accountability, the same people remain in positions of influence and make decisions based on the same logics again and again. So no, I don’t think people who enabled genocide for nearly 2 years should get an easy pass
Scott: -tried to get pro Palestine academics fired -lead a group of CA legislators to meet with the Israeli govt -smeared Jewish Voice for Peace as bigots -cosponsored legislation to ban teaching about Palestine in CA schools Curious what forms of protest he now supports
You can literally wake up and say, I’m going to stop denying the genocide. You can literally wake up and say, @ZohranKMamdani is the Democratic nominee and I support him. You can literally just wake up and say I’m going to stop making cowardly decisions. You can join us.
You can literally just wake up and do things.
You could take Gaza out of the picture entirely—what’s happening in the West Bank alone is grounds enough to sever all ties with Israel and deploy an international force to liberate the Palestinians.
Settlers and soldiers rolled into At-Tuwani today—the Masafer Yatta village featured in No Other Land—assaulted residents, including Oscar winner Basel Adra, and drove off with three stolen sheep. The people in this community are the kindest I’ve ever met. This world cannot go on
This is part why we say that soldiers who destroy civilian buildings are not just guilty of war crimes but also of genocide These demolitions don’t just inflict conditions of life calculated to bring about Palestinians’ physical destruction in the present, but in perpetuity
Horrifying report of the long-term environmental damage done by Israeli genocidaires in Gaza: Nearly all trees destroyed; All coastal waters polluted; Debris with asbestos and other pollutants everywhere; Pollutants leeching into groundwater sources. bloomberg.com/graphics/2025-…
What's now happening was as clear as it was in November 2023 as it is now. This was and is truly one of the most shameful and perverse images we may ever see from our political leaders in our lifetime
November 2023—Israel had already killed 11,000 Palestinians. Hand in hand, leaders of both parties declared they stood with Israel. “No ceasefire” chants roared. Hours later, Israel rounded up journalists and invaded a hospital with thousands of patients & refugees they created.
This is very revealing. Bob Geldof tells the Sky anchor that Israel is lying, and the anchor almost falls off his chair. "They're lying, did you say???" He blurts out, almost in shock. Would there have been any shock if you had said that Russia is lying? Or Iran, or China?…
Leftist podcasters take their political positions because they want money and clout, unlike me, who agrees with whatever the Democratic Party happens to be saying at the time
This is clearly less about the average person changing their mind and more about the redemption arc of pro-genocide centrist pundits. Those people aren't changing their minds because of a crisis of conscience though, they're doing it to prevent a further crisis of legitimacy
I just couldn't disagree more. The coalition to end this nightmare has to be big enough to include the anti-interventionist right & a liberal zionist who decided today that it has to end. No one wants to be part of a movement where self-righteous people scolds them upon entry!
Another instance of the left being principled and correct from the beginning only for liberals to inevitably come to the same conclusion years too late and not a single one will admit they were wrong
this implies that the dire situation in gaza happened overnight, as opposed to being the final chapter in a series of escalating horrors by the state of israel. not just callous, completely implausible
