Martin Rhodes
@MartinRhodes21
@ScottishLabour Member of Parliament for Glasgow North.
My new website martinrhodes.uk is now live. It’s a simple way to get in touch if you need assistance with any local or national issues, or to arrange a surgery appointment. I'm here to help.
Before recess, I contributed a debate held by @katrinamurray71 on credit unions. They are being held to strict regulatory rules that don’t legally apply to them - threatening their viability in low-income communities.
Earlier this month, I celebrated the UK’s largest manufacturing sector, contributing £5.2bn to the economy, at the @Foodanddrinkfed parliamentary reception. The food and drink sector is a large employer in Glasgow North.

Earlier this month I contributed to a debate on the Spending Review in Scotland. The government is investing in Scotland's future with four investment zones, including one here in the Glasgow City Region.
This @UKLabour government is delivering for working people in Glasgow North, and across the country👇

Great to be out speaking to residents in Yorkhill as part of @UKLabour’s Campaign Weekend on jobs. 💰 A pay rise of £1,400 for the 200,000 lowest paid workers 📈 Long-term investment to save Scottish ship building 🤝 Trade deals with US, India and EU - boosting exports and jobs

Great to visit @StAFirstAid this morning with @MartinRhodes21. Over 200 lives a year could be saved in Scotland if more people had the confidence to intervene in the event of a first aid emergency. #TakingTheFearOutOfFirstAid
After the Glasgow City TAG Banking Campaign Steering Group raised concerns with me, I asked the government to go further on the accessibility of banking services for disabled people and those with additional support needs. I'm looking forward to carrying on working with them.
I've written a piece for Parliament News on the urgent need for action in Palestine following my Westminster Hall Debate - you can read it below 👇 parliamentnews.co.uk/a-just-peace-d…
I was pleased to contribute to a Westminster Hall Debate on funding for the BBC World Service. A reliable, trusted and globally respected service, we must ensure it remains properly funded and well-resourced.
Delighted to have hosted a useful discussion with @FBUScotland Reps and Scottish Labour MPs today at Westminster 🔥 The cuts proposed to Fire Stations in Glasgow North and across the country are deeply concerning ✂️

I'm proud to be a part of a @UKLabour Government who will deliver sick pay for the poorest workers. This will mean those earning less than £123 a week who are currently ineligible, will be able to claim statutory sick pay. Only Labour is standing up for working people.
I recently met with @ActionAidUK campaigners at the launch of the charity’s report into the harms caused by climate damaging industries to women and girls.

Many constituents are interested in what I get up to in Westminster - in 60 seconds I've tried to show what I get up to as your MP when I’m in Parliament 👇🎥
I was pleased to visit Wing Hong Chinese Elderly Centre in Garnethill and to hear more about the centre and its services from Amy and Yat Tai.

A busy week in Westminster as your MP - a few of the things I've been up to below👇

It was a pleasure to visit @Project_Ability's Glasgow 850 exhibition with my colleague @MartinRhodes21. A remarkable showcase of some of Glasgow's talent - go along and see for yourself! 🎨 The exhibition runs until Saturday 19 July. Find out more: project-ability.co.uk/exhibitions/gl….
Grateful for the support from MP's like @MartinRhodes21 and of course the thousands of people who signed our petition calling for a new law. Find out more here: corporatejusticecoalition.org/our-campaigns/…
There are UK companies which profit from supply chains that destroy precious forests and violate human rights worldwide. 145,480 people signed the @CorpJusticeUK petition for a new law to hold them to account. I back their call for a Business, Human Rights, and Environment Act.
Thank you @MartinRhodes21 for raising this with @Keir_Starmer👏 – time to keep our transport workers safe & stop violence on the transport network! ✊
At PMQs I raised the shocking 47% rise in violence against rail staff 🚆 Our transport workers deserve to feel safe 🤝 I welcome @Keir_Starmer's support for stronger protections like body-worn cameras & greater accountability for Train Operating Companies @TSSAunion @RMTunion
