Living with psychotropic iatrogenic harm and advocating for truth instead of denial
The ‘learned intermediary’ roll of prescribers. The catch 22 whereby the pharmaceutical companies get away with it because they pass the blame to the prescribers, who have of course learned everything from the pharmaceutical companies.
It’s a scary place to be I imagine, when you’re a prescriber who’s been lied to by big Pharma and then left with no tools to clean up the mess you’ve unknowingly created. Poor bastards.
How do SSRI antidepressants impact the developing brain? This is an excellent Grand Rounds exploring this topic. "Revisiting the Safety of SSRI use during pregnancy: Are we causing more harm than good?" youtube.com/watch?v=NbMqE6…
These are 2 separate issues: 1) "Do SSRIs alter fetal development & should the public be warned about this?" Yes & Yes. 2) "Should a specific woman continue her SSRI?" There's no one-size-fits-all answer & the decision is hers to make. Compassionate care & support are key.
"Can SSRI antidepressants affect the developing fetal brain?" Yes. "Should the public be warned about this?" Yes. "Should a specific patient take an SSRI during pregnancy?" This is a separate question. It requires compassionate care & counseling, & support for patient choices.
Do you know what akathisia is? Most people including our doctors do not know either. instagram.com/p/DMc_eJHxCeK/… Please share,
It must be about 35 years since I was prescribed prozac as a young woman of childbearing age. And here we are in 2025 with women still not being given adequate warning! How many decades does it take?
What are we waiting for before we warn the public? @AdamUrato1
This is an area where we have very little evidence, because no effort has been made to systematically track the outcomes of antidepressant use in pregnancy. The evidence required to definitively prove your claim that untreated depression is more dangerous to mothers and babies…
Nearly anything a doctor tells you about any psych med is inaccurate.
Wow. Just… wow! My book Crossing Zero launched yesterday, and today it hit: 🥇 #1 in Amazon’s Hot New Releases in Psychiatry 🥉 #3 on the Best Seller list in Psychiatry – right behind The Body Keeps the Score and (of course) the DSM practical handhook. I’m blown away. I'm…
Tell me this is a conspiracy theory, I dare you!! This is the industry of medicine. Dead right Daniel. We live in a sick society and it’s been purposely engineered for profit.
Any system that requires only short-term company-funded trials to prove benefit, but demands catastrophic, undeniable harm-plus political pressure and smoking-gun evidence of corporate wrongdoing-to acknowledge risk, is a system built to harm people at scale...
Post of the week!! ♥️♥️♥️
Mothers with those kinds of resources (having someone available to watch their newborns for 2 weeks, for example) might not need drugs in the first place. Why don't we have better resources for new parents? Why just meds?
The foundation of the psychiatric industrial complex is built on lies, manipulation, fraud and systematic deception. Its a house of cards and its crumbling. The voices of harmed patients are being heard. The tidal wave is coming. Be on the right side of history

Thanks to @DrMakaryFDA and @US_FDA for inviting me to speak at the FDA expert panel on SSRIs and pregnancy. Here is the video of my statement- I added a little bonus footage at the beginning for context.
Their Product is Doubt One thing that I have found absolutely shocking in my interactions with modern medicine, particularly psychiatry is the way that supposedly intellectually serious and upstanding senior members of the profession can adopt such a dismissive attitude to the…
Yesterday at the FDA panel discussion I stated many women feel coerced into taking an SSRI. Are not provided informed consent. Are misled into understanding the nature/etiology of their condition. If you disagree with me... read these comments. No more bystanders
For those prescribed an SSRI? Was it inferred that you had a brain illness? A “genetic” condition? Were you informed that SSRI’s have never outperformed non pharmacological interventions? Given the potential for harm and known adverse health effects… were you provided adequate…
This paper helps to explain the neurobiology of physical dependence, although I'm not sure it is known exactly why some people experience severe withdrawal while others don't: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC99…
Excellent new book about psych-drug withdrawal published today….by @_AndersSorensen amazon.com/dp/B0FFBDCGP7
Today’s panel questioned the narratives we’ve all been sold on known v unknown and risks v benefits of SSRIs in pregnancy but also more generally. Incredible discussion. And I even got my question answered.

So, had the thyroid issues been addressed initially, there’s a great chance the ‘diagnosed depression’ would have disappeared. The ensuing search for a psych drug that worked, and the harm from that could have been entirely avoided. #prescribedharm #MedEd podcasts.apple.com/nz/podcast/sid…
