My partner, working in healthcare, has told me many immigrants had already been struggling to find work. Now, ppl are losing people they live with to ICE abductions, & ppl are staying away from work. As a comrade reminded—many more tenants now can't afford rent. No Evictions!

The death of Benito Flores is social murder. Benito was an extraordinary thinker with an incisive analysis of state violence and who fearlessly asserted his rights in the face of such violence. Rest in power dearest Benito. May we all continue the housing justice you taught us.

WHY am I just now learning about this legend?!! The state of California owns a house. They left it empty. Benito Flores, a 70- year old man w/ diabetes, on SSI and nowhere else to go, moved in. They’re trying to evict him. He’s not backing down—he built a treehouse.

Big wins for the tenants movement in LA this week. The five-year @hillside_villa rent strike is over, with the landlord forgiving over $700,000 of rental debt for 20 tenants — and zero evictions. And we won Lupe Breard’s eviction case this morning. @LATenantsUnion @ccedLA

I’ve seen three live ICE snatchings this week. I’ve spoken to as many people who had a family member taken. Spoke this morning to a woman whose uncle never made it to work and hasn’t been seen since yesterday. It’s hard to fathom what’s happening in LA right now.

X has apparently deleted the video below of LAPD collaborating with CBP / ICE during an immigration raid at Costco. LAPD arrested a local journalist, Anthony Orendorff. Not sure why it was deleted but please share and blow this up!! @MayorOfLA is responsible for this!
Story is coming on this. I spent hours out there this morning. Here’s what I heard. People told me that Border Patrol agents arrived around 7:30 am and were surrounding the Home Depot parking lot, covering all the entrances.
I’m here at the Home Depot on Sunset Boulevard, where people are reporting that several vendors were arrested by immigration agents. I talked to a woman whose dad was taken. She said she’d put in papers two weeks ago to try and get him a U visa.

Confirmed today: ICE is taking unhoused people who are unable to produce documents from the street to fulfill their quotas. People too poor to have any documentation on them, unable to prove where they come from. A human rights disaster in the process. facebook.com/reel/696907072…
