Bumping this back up, too.
Boxing is the only sport with a guy named Picasso and two guys who've gotten Van Gogh'd. (Evander Holyfield, Sebastian Lujan)
I've long thought Gary Russell Jr. could've been a fifth franchise here in the D.C. area, even if it was just keeping him busy against middle- and lower-tier opponents. His style and speed would've made him an attraction.
Bam Rodriguez is the best 25 and under fighter in boxing by far. Can box and is always entertaining. You don't have to wonder or ask Bam to be entertaining and he knows how to close the show. The same can't be said for certain fighters who are currently on a pedestal.
Bam Rodriguez & Oleksandr Usyk are 2 fighters who would be competitive in any era of boxing. We are lucky to be able to watch them in their prime.
Someone needs to tell David Diamante that it’s not all about him.
Put Gary, Gary Antuanne and Gary Antonio on a tripleheader here in DC at least once a year. Call it Russellmania.
Usyk moves to 9-0 against opponents ranked top 10 or champ in their class by @ringmagazine and @TBRBoard, 13-0 in title fights across two classes, and 4-0 in lineal title fights.

I’d be embarrassed to be announced as an IBO or a Bridgerweight champion. Pathetic.
Sirenko against Joyce would be like watching a boxing match on 0.5x speed
The funnest. So many of my earliest boxing memories are tied to Tommy Morrison. The guy was flawed as both a boxer & a human, but he made boxing fun in the early ‘90s.
Tommy Morrison was a damn fun heavyweight.
Lots of memories of that day involving my grandparents, my great-grandmother, & watching the fight with people who are now buried. Funny how boxing matches anchor so many personal memories.
28 yrs ago June 28: Evander @holyfield wins by DQ in 3 over Mike Tyson, retains WBA heavyweight title, @MGMGrand LV. In one of the most infamous fights in boxing history, Tyson, frustrated by alleged headbutts, bites both of Holyfield’s ears & gets tossed, setting off bedlam.
357. Mark Johnson record against fighters ranked in the top 10 by Ring Magazine.
If you haven’t watched “NewsRadio,” do it now.
One of the funniest people who ever lived.
Nice Saturday before #HitchinsKambosos — got some sparring in this morning, put on a quality vintage shirt, & doing some reading.

Pull up a chair, children… Larry Holmes had one of the best jabs in heavyweight history, period. Crisp, fast, and mean enough to split a guard wide open. That jab alone won him rounds before the bell even rang. Add elite footwork, an iron chin, underrated power, and the kind of…

Larry Holmes: 20 consecutive title defenses, never ducked anyone, competitive into his 40s, almost 80 fights, no prison time, no publicized substance abuse, married to the same woman, saved his money and practically owns the county he lives in. That's why he deserves respect.
Heavyweight legend “Easton Assassin" Larry Holmes, 1978.
