Good to be on @BBCBreakfast talking about our research on overcrowding in England and the devastating impact this is having on children. We need an urgent, long term, national plan aimed at drastically increasing the number of affordable and social homes across England.

Congratulations @jamescleverly on your appointment as Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, Communities & Local Government. @natfednews and our members look forward to meeting & discussing how we can deliver the home our country needs.
Yesterday, @KemiBadenoch made some changes to her Shadow Cabinet, including new roles for @JamesCleverly, @StuartAndrew, @RicHolden, @JuliaLopezMP, @HuddlestonNigel, @kevinhollinrake & @NeilDotObrien Here's ConservativeHome's guide to the new Opposition front bench:

Good to hear @mtpennycook set out the government’s commitment to fixing our broken housing system by: 🏡overhauling the faltering planning system 🏡 delivering the biggest boost in investment in social and affordable housing, and 🏡transformational change in safety and quality

🏡 To mark the final day of #RuralHousingWeek, we were honoured to host @natfednews @KateNHF @HomesEngland @mhclg @SDC_newsdesk at our affordable #ruralhousing scheme in Chiddingstone, Kent. A beautiful development, due to open later this year!

“The housing crisis is a real threat to our rural communities. High house prices and a chronic shortage of affordable homes force many to leave the areas they grew up in.” @KateNHF discusses the pressures facing rural communities in England as part of #RuralHousingWeek 2025🏘️
🚨 BREAKING 🚨 We’re delivering the biggest boost to social and affordable homes in a generation through a new £39b programme. At least 60% will be for social rent. This investment and reform will provide secure homes for hundreds of thousands of families across the country.
The scale of the ambition from @AngelaRayner and @mtpennycook is clear, and it’s enormously welcome to see that 60% of the new Social and Affordable Homes Programme will be for social rent, offering real hope to those at the sharp end of the housing crisis.
Boosting the supply of social rented homes has always been a priority for @AngelaRayner and me. We are today announcing that 60% of our 10-year £39 billion Social and Affordable Homes Programme will be for Social Rent.
This is my absolute favourite @RestIsPolitics Leading interview! @jacindaardern speaks so powerfully and beautifully about the idea that “what people want is a house, a job, someone to love and something to hope for” Wonderful interview @campbellclaret and @RoryStewartUK
"I never came through politics thinking my gender would define where I might end up" @jacindaardern reflects on becoming New Zealand's third female Prime Minister.
Today, we remember all of those who lost their lives, and everyone affected, by the Grenfell Tower tragedy 8 years ago. 💚

Today, the Chancellor announced the biggest boost to social housing investment in a generation. Thank you to @AngelaRayner and @mtpennycook for demonstrating a commitment to social housing, and to Rachel Reeves for investing at the #SpendingReview. ft.com/content/141f72…
