"We can't afford that kind of unity in our country." Raymond S Richmond to Senator Robert A Taft, 28 Jan 1942 2/3
Iran's top nuclear negotiator says IAEA inspectors won't need to visit Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan sites, citing President Trump's claim that they've been "obliterated." So begins the next phase...
Iran has approved a visit by an IAEA technical delegation in the next 2-3 weeks, but they won't be visiting the nuclear sites struck by the US. Gharibabadi questions why they would need to, if they were "obliterated" as Trump says
"Iran should not be attacked during the negotiations"
He did not rule out resuming talks with the United States, but said it was important to prepare the basis for a 6th round of talks, including that Iran should not be attacked during the negotiatiions, & the two sides should agree the outcome of a deal will benefit both countries
Surely AI can produce this kind of thing at least as well and more cheaply.

"A Kremlin that cannot overwhelm Ukraine cannot pose a hegemonic threat against the core European powers." Writes @JustinTLogan: cato.org/commentary/can…
You could pay me a billion dollars and I would not do one of those Jordan Peterson/Mehdi Hasan lightning round speed dating things.
Most of Washington’s leading “progressive” foreign policy voices were dead wrong on Ukraine We were told diplomacy with Russia to end their war was “appeasement” — Ukrainian victory was “probable” Ukraine today faces a much more grim future, with far less diplomatic leverage.
will we ever get a reckoning from “progressives” who shouted down calls for early diplomacy to end the war? those who insisted that the only ‘just’ course was pursuing an improbable total victory over Russia, no matter what that it might cost Ukrainians? I’m guessing…no!
Iran says it will never give up enrichment. Trump says he's in no rush to resume talks. Europeans are threatening sanctions if no talks by end of August. Israel, US both say they're ready for more strikes. Most in Iran expect the war to resume-- potentially quite soon.
John Mearsheimer had been predicting a Russian invasion of Ukraine as much as 30 years ago whereas Huntington threw open scorn upon the idea and his civilizationist model of how the world works instead foresaw a Ukrainian civil war between east and west:

Have you noticed the pattern in which one Pope after the next will focus on the Jewish state & slandering it, while completely ignoring the actual genocide of Christians in the Middle East including right this minute in Syria?
Four of the authors--but not this one!--chose to publish as Anonymous "due to professional, personal, or security considerations." Smart!

i like when they mention the Chinese ambition for galactic hegemony.
There's no military justification for this. And given that both US and UK are declining to comment on it, it's hard to see any signaling or political justification, either.
U.S. nuclear weapons have reportedly returned to British soil, with multiple sources indicating that a number of B61-12 thermonuclear gravity bombs were transferred this week to RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. ukdefencejournal.org.uk/us-nukes-deplo…
Since allowing Elon Musk to enter the Zhongnanhai in a red Tesla in 2018, the Chinese government has seen the entrepreneur as their "bridge" to better relations with the U.S. Now that role may have moved to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
