Tariffs are basically sales taxes on imported goods. In effect, we’re all getting a tax increase, even after allowing for the recent extension of the original Trump tax rates last month. And for what. They aren’t even slowing down the rise in our debt.

I loved Tom Lehrer. I am so glad I knocked on his door. I am so glad I got the time with him that I did. Am listening today to some of his songs, and some of our conversations. He didn’t want a funeral, memorial or a fuss but he was a legend and genius and curmudgeonly grump.
