John Slinger MP
@JohnSlinger
Labour MP for Rugby & the villages | I don’t respond to cases via social media | Please email me or call my office for an appointment
In my first year as your MP, I’ve made 190 parliamentary contributions, helped nearly 5,000 casework issues with an 89% resolution rate, secured vital local funding, and fought hard for Rugby’s future. Your trust drives my mission. #ParliamentWrapped
Great to meet Minister @simonlightwood and colleagues at the parliamentary reception with bus companies and CPT. We discussed how the Bus Services Bill will empower local councils to improve bus services for communities. Also met Stagecoach on their new electric fleet launch.

I support @MattWestern_'s urgent call to action against online racism and misogyny directed at Jess Carter. These companies must act now to address this unacceptable behaviour.
In just 3 HOURS, 91 MPs have joined my call on the major social media companies to take serious action to combat the appalling racism and misogyny directed at Jess Carter that they have allowed to be espoused on their platforms They need to act. Here is our call on them to do so
Well said @wesstreeting x.com/wesstreeting/s…
These attacks on @WHO are intolerable and are further crippling the health response in Gaza. Medics working in conditions that could scarcely be imagined in our worst nightmares must not be targets. Israel must comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law.
Rugby Borough Council and partners strive to maximise affordable and social housing despite challenges. The Planning and Infrastructure Bill will boost delivery, modernise committees, and fund planning departments, enabling 1.5 million quality homes, especially for young people.
Congratulations to Councillor @_GeorgeFinch on becoming Warwickshire County Council leader. Great to see young people in leadership. While I disagree with Reform UK, I'll work constructively for Rugby residents whilst holding them to account. #Rugby

The Environment Secretary’s statement today marks a vital step to reform the water sector and tighten regulation of private companies. Working with Brownsover residents, we’ve held Severn Trent accountable and secured a clear timetable for essential local water improvements.
In memory of my sister Margaret, we launched a Glioblastoma drug trial. Now, Margaret’s Trial is open on the NHS - and offering real hope. Ben, diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in 2022, saw his tumour vanish. His story helped make this happen. Watch here:
Superb! Resources *and* reforming the system x.com/patmcfaddenmp/…
Fewer quangos, stronger powers. Today we set out our plans for a shakeup of the standards landscape with a new Ethics and Integrity Commission and new powers of enforcement. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
Happy Monday everyone! @HouseofCommons, is there an award for the largest number of pot plants in an MP's office? 🌱 🪴 Note that all plants are paid for by me and staff, and purchased from local plant shops.

This is what our work on the international stage is all about — delivering for British people. Tackling migration. Creating jobs. Growing our economy.
In 🏉 with the @rugby_labour team at Eden Park ☔️🚪 ✊ 🗣️👂🏻🌹 💪🏼 Lots of good conversations about road safety - a priority of mine & local Labour Councillors Livesey, Edwards & Karadiar I’ve long called for the A426 speed limit to come down from 60 to 40 mph.

Good to meet Health Minister @karinsmyth and discuss a range of issues affecting my constituents including urgent treatment at the Hospital of St Cross, community-based services and raise constituents' queries and concerns.

The real indictment isn’t wealthy Britons leaving, but those who benefit from our nation yet refuse to contribute fairly. Britain’s wealth is more than money - it’s our freedoms, culture, and democracy, built by all who work hard and contribute.

This #WorldYouthSkillsDay: what skills will best prepare young people for the future? I've been speaking with students at Warwickshire College and visiting Rugby's innovative companies like MTC, Intec, and FANUC UK. Time we listened to tomorrow's pioneers. #WYSD2025

I’ve called for a responsibility revolution where everyone plays their part in national resilience. With improved public info and emergency tests, we’re normalising risk awareness to help communities better prepare and protect themselves.
Great to join @PreetKGillMP and @AlexBallingerMP at the 'Political Therapy' event in Birmingham. We reflected on the first year, explored future opportunities, and enjoyed insightful questions. Thanks to Jonathan Todd for chairing and everyone who joined the conversation.

Civilians in Gaza must be protected from attack and able to access aid without fear. Devastated to hear about the killing of women and children waiting in line for aid yesterday. The UK Government calls for an immediate and independent investigation into this incident.
Despite today's 0.1% contraction, the UK led G7 growth in Q1 2025. Our £15.6bn transport investment is already working - like Warwickshire's new electric bus fleet, built in Britain, creating good jobs and driving long-term growth in our community.
Since small boat crossings began, returning people to France who have arrived in the UK illegally has not been possible. Now it is with this groundbreaking deal.
