The clerks at the store where I get my lunch said a man came in last week and asked them where the public entrance to 26 Federal Plaza was. He locked his bike outside, and it’s been there since.
Now there will be another one. LA's Streets Are For Everyone, aka SAFE, has begun installing white tires to mark the scene of pedestrian deaths. That might be more durable to honor the woman killed on the bench.
We installed that ghostbike in 2007 - its still a death trap. Rest in peace Sam Hindy ghostbikes.org/ghostbikes.org…
There was once a ghost bike at this exact location. But it kept being destroyed by cars. We replaced it more times than any other ghost bike in the city before giving up. nbcnewyork.com/news/local/cyc…
Traffic engineering has an extraordinarily high tolerance for harm, immiseration, injury and death. If engineers in any other discipline were aware of a node failure resulting in substantive harm and failed to address it—system wide—they would be fined, fired and likely jailed.

Two people were killed at Canal and Bowery in a crash on Saturday. Then, “Almost 24 hours later, a second violent crash occurred at the same Manhattan intersection. Police said a driver came careening into a food truck and TD Bank around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.”

I'm not surprised Mayor Adams is partnering with the Citizen app. I wrote about this app years ago. It is designed to scare the shit out of people.
Check out their full list of Big Ideas to Make Buses Fast! transalt.org/big-ideas-bus
Our friends @TransAlt whipped up a smorgasbord of big brain ideas to speed up our buses! Things like: 🌜 24/7 + 365 bus lanes 🚦 Traffic signals that prioritize buses 📷 Expanding automated bus lane enforcement A great cheat sheet for our Mayor... or the next one!
Talked to @JustinBrannan about his new bill, which would block delivery app companies from deactivating or “locking out” workers without a reason. This is something delivery workers have been organizing for since the minimum wage started in 2023.
After mismanaging the MTA for 10+ years as Governor, Andrew Cuomo would now like to mismanage it as Mayor.
.@andrewcuomo repeats that he would propose the city takes over the management of the MTA, which is run by the state. "The MTA is too big to be able to manage the transit authority, effectively, let the mayor, manage the New York City Transit Authority," he says.
New York City’s buses are the slowest in the nation — but they don’t have to be. With a few low-cost changes, we could not only improve this dismal ranking, but also have buses that are downright fast. All it will take is a few big ideas…
Also, @Deja_Foxx is young and interesting and has a bright future, but to frame this race as anything about @ZohranKMamdani feels out of touch with what's happening on the ground in Arizona.
This is where superficial generational discourse gets you: An AOC and Bernie-endorsed candidate wins and it’s somehow an indictment on Mamdani—who didnt endorse anyone and has nothing to do with the race. The similarities, like Weisman and Healy’s analysis, are purely superficial
"Mamdani momentum withered in the deserts of southern Arizona on Tuesday night." @jackhealyNYT on Adelita Grijalva's convincing win in Tucson against the upstarts who called for a new face and name to succeed Raul Grijalva in the House. nytimes.com/2025/07/15/us/…

Great stuff
Spoke with @andrewcuomo after he shot his video about what went wrong in the primary, what his plan is to tackle affordability, and what he thinks of all those labor unions, donors and electeds rushing to @ZohranKMamdani nymag.com/intelligencer/…
Cuomo claims to hate socialism but keeps getting publicly owned. Sad
