Record number of farms shut in wake of inheritance tax. So sad to see this. I grew up on a farm in my very early years before swimming started. Have many friends that are farmers. I don’t know many that work harder for so little, because they love the land telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/…
Spoke with a business owner client recently who had a potential Inheritance Tax liability of £200,000. With Rachel Reeves proposed changes, that will increase to £3.4 million. He was OK with paying £200k, but will now take steps to reduce it to close to zero with sensible tax…
Hello @grok, if I was elected UK Prime Minister, can you list ten policies I would likely enact within the first 100 days based on my posts
.@UKLabour claim #FamilyFarmTax will help fund NHS (if only for 20hrs-minor detail),that this will BENEFIT farmers?!🤡 Yet another thing they’ve NOT factored in their “analysis”is STRESS placed on farmers,on ALL family businesses. Stress is a MAJOR factor in many illnesses 1/2

Every day this week I've posted a thread about one of five churches that I visited on a cycle ride in mid-Suffolk last week. Today's penultimate church is the thatched and picturesque looking St Augustine's at Harleston. THREAD
Britain’s food-delivery boom has spiralled into an industrial-scale backdoor for illegal workers, often operating from taxpayer-funded asylum hotels that have been transformed by criminal gangs into modern-day workhouses. Read my full article here: open.substack.com/pub/sadrabbit/…
One of mine too! 👇🫶🏻 @CourtlandsFred @cutlerstom
Last week on a grey, muggy day I cycled to five churches in mid-Suffolk. Every day this week I'm posting about one of them and today it's my personal favourite of the bunch, the Church of King Charles the Martyr at Shelland.
Oh! Him! 👇😡

Wonderful start to the day with the release of 25/ 32 Head Start Curlew recovery project #Curlews. It took them a few moments to realise the roof netting was gone before taking flight, circling the meadow & heading towards The Swale salting. #conservation @KentishPlover 1/2
If you need one single example of just *how far* disconnected Whitehall is from the rest of the country, you can find it below. Painful.
Posted without comment, not least because this has left me speechless.
James Mee of @HMRCgovuk has won an award for his work on the family business inheritance tax disaster. Might be well worth giving him some feedback, you could well be the first private sector business owner he’s ever spoken too… linkedin.com/posts/james-me…

Would Govt. prefer us to sell the workshop, yard, offices, stock or staff room to pay the ludicrous BPR IHT if my mum dies? 45 years of unimaginable graft, risk, sacrifice (& paying taxes) - but then shafted simply because we run a good family business & provide good stable jobs.
For at least 10 years I have warned that if the major political parties failed to rise to rural issues - particularly relating to farming, food and the environment - then the populist right would run riot It’s now happening Well done, you absolute fuckwits
Great Escape! Game on! Italy will have to un-park the bus now! Come on England! 🏴 💪👊
The Treasury’s family farm tax legislation, which is accompanied by an impact assessment, suggests there will be “no significant macroeconomic impacts” at all. But a report says the reforms will cause over 200,000 job losses and cost nearly £2bn by 2030. express.co.uk/news/politics/…
Absolute rubbish @SteveReedMP You slashed the delinked payments last year by 76 % and have capped this years payment at £600. The SFI is now a shadow of its former self to new applicants, taxed pick up trucks and fertiliser, increased NI, got rid of the market for 2m tons of…
'This government is supporting farmers with more investment' 'You broke a pledge to them!' Katherine Forster asks Steve Reed about what the NFU has called farmers' 'torment with worry' due to government policy.
