DEATH FOR SMALL SCALE MILK? For years, they’ve bottled milk in glass the old-fashioned way. Bottles out in the morning, empties back by night, supplying shops all across Scotland’s west coast islands. But last week, Wee Isle Dairy on Gigha announced they’re stopping milk…
Biocides and even DEET found in the River Lugg 🧪 This eye-opening report uncovers hidden threats to our health and environment. Here's what you need to know 👉 cpreherefordshire.org.uk/news/biocides-… #ChemicalPollution #RiverLugg #ProtectOurRivers #Biocides #EnvironmentalHealth #RiverWye
Would Govt. prefer us to sell the workshop, yard, offices, stock or staff room to pay the ludicrous BPR IHT if my mum dies? 45 years of unimaginable graft, risk, sacrifice (& paying taxes) - but then shafted simply because we run a good family business & provide good stable jobs.

Rural areas once again pulling the shortest straw. Just wondering how many alarm bells need to ring.
From the moment of conception, children are cocooned in chemicals. Pregnant women in rural areas were most likely to test positive for multiple pesticides, but levels were high even among city dwellers. Exposure to a mix of pesticides increased risks of pregnancy complications.
Meanwhile in other news the water industry rich list. The men and women that have been paid a combined total of £278 million in just 11 years. That by the way is your money. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…
Peter is right! What about the Wye, Arrow & Lugg? Repeatedly reported to have endless compounding problems and entire communities paralysed, yet always dodged when it comes to ‘answers’ Too difficult or too rural? What happens when the water company isn’t the cause?
The #CunliffeReview dropped today, proposing a major overhaul of water regulation in the UK. But there's a glaring omission. The review recommends new regional water system planning authorities, several in 🏴, one in 🏴. But what about the Dee, which crosses the border? 👇
The UK government is promising to halve sewage pollution from water companies by 2030. The plan includes a £104bn investment to rebuild sewage pipes & strict new rules. It comes ahead of a review into the water sector, where it’s been reported it will call to abolish Ofwat. Let's…
It is mind boggling that new 🏠are still banned in North Herefordshire (6 years!) due to pollution issues in other sectors (which get to carry on ‘business as usual’) No action plan to stop/repair the ecological, social & economic crisis - no one standing up for those suffering.
The historic areas of Tuscany do not seem to have random assortments of PV on their roofs or fields. Not on new or old homes. I’m guessing panels are located in less sensitive areas & feed the shared grid - protecting their heritage whilst utilising a national resource for all.
Visited project under construction & thrilled to see nests in the deep eaves & outbuildings There are alternatives to swift bricks or add ons = traditional eaves, exposed rafter feet, window hoods, open bays etc Often eliminated for ‘performance’, £ or fashion but good for nature

The River Lugg in Herefordshire has been named as one of the worst waterways for containing hazardous chemicals known as biocides More here: bbc.in/3GDVxBC
Studies show: Trees are the true air conditioners. Under a tree, the temperature can be 15 C° cooler than measured in the ambient air. Shade and evaporation create the same effect as a conventional A/C, but without electricity. A tree produces about 20-30 KW/h, as much as ten A/C
In this warm weather, we're doing all we can to get water to your taps, but you can do your bit too 🙌 It may be tempting to water your gardens to keep them green but did you know grass can survive six weeks without being watered? dwrcymru.com/savewater

Green oak is arguably the most sustainable construction material available - by quite a big margin. My dad was ahead of his time by going back in time.

Big news: After nearly a decade, DuPont has agreed to settle a class-action suit brought by the people of Hoosick Falls, NY, the community I spent years following for my book. All told, the village's roughly 3,000 residents will receive $90 million in damages from the companies…
Shows how complicated, convoluted, costly & contrary planning is (for SMEs). Even a small scheme of bespoke custom build homes on a brownfield site allocated for housing, with bucket-loads of biodiversity (paid for by the developer) can be stuck for half a decade & cost £100k +
Very persuasive film. The regulatory burden for new houses also deters small companies and consolidates power of the big five builders.
Heading towards 6 yrs of housing moratorium in the Herefordshire Lugg due to river pollution. The social, economic & ecological harm on the rural community has been catastrophic. I find it incredible that we have not implemented restoration & protection actions yet. Why not?

The GREAT news from @DefraGovUK at @Groundswellaguk yesterday is that the capital grants are back! This is the news I've been waiting on for AGES! Here's my thoughts on how to be strategic for it's best use for hedges...
