House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) just broke the record for longest House floor speech in history. He began at 4:53 a.m. and is still talking now, surpassing then-House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's (R-Calif.) record of 8 hours and 32 minutes.
Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries' 'magic minute' floor speech is heading into its sixth hour. Republicans are desperate to vote on Trump's megabill and go home. It's all part of Dems' strategy to frustrate the GOP with procedural delays. For @bgov: news.bgov.com/bloomberg-gove…
Valadao voted aye. 216-208 against. Rs need 9 more. Eight haven’t voted. Eight is not enough. Ha! I’m a little sleep deprived
The House is now voting on the rule for the reconciliation bill Johnson just told reporters: "It’s been a good day. We're in a good place right now." But the rule currently has 3 GOP “no” votes: Self, Spartz and Clyde Any more no’s and it could fail

GOP Resistance Softens as Trump Presses House on Tax Package @elwasson @JarrellTDillard @bpolitics bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Spartz, bafflingly, is a NO on the rule. And YES on final passage
I’ll vote for the bill, since we need to make it happen for our economy & there are some good provisions in it. However, I will vote against the rule due to broken commitments by @SpeakerJohnson to his own members. I’m on Plan C now to deal with the looming fiscal catastrophe.
TAX BILL SITUATION: House completely stalled on procedural votes because @SpeakerJohnson doesn’t have the votes to pass the $3.4 trillion package
HOUSE TROUBLE: @RepRalphNorman tells us he is a “no” on rule and Senate bill
Senate Republicans just voted to use an unprecedented maneuver to mask the $3.8 trillion cost of extending Trump’s 2017 tax cuts. (w/ @elwasson & @ReporterCioffi) bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
First vote of the day! On the GOP use of current policy to score the reconciliation bill. Democrats say it will mask the true revenue impacts of the bill Schumer called it “fake math” CBO predicts it will reduce revenues by $3.3t
NOW VOTING: Does the Decision of the Chair stand as the Judgement of the Senate (that amendment #2360 does not violate sect. 313(b)(1)(E) of the Congressional Budget Act)?
