This stock trading issue is not going away for him and, per people I have talked to, makes this the seat Republicans are most anxious about losing, after the Bacon seat in NE.

Rules Committee members just received this Epstein resolution

This Rules Committee hearing has now gone over two hours. Every step of this week (rule votes, meetings, etc.) has been drawn out as lawmakers fight over crypto, the Epstein files and more. The frustration in the House is palpable.
Reps. Austin Scott (R) and Jim McGovern (D) just got into a yelling match about the Epstein files at the Rules Committee meeting on the rescissions package. Members originally expected this hearing to take place at 10 a.m.
Rep. Ralph Norman says a Rules Committee meeting will be noticed in a little bit; Republicans need to draft documents first (I asked if these were Epstein-related documents and he said yes). An agreement on an Epstein resolution would allow rescissions to move forward tonight
Market structure PASSES HOUSE - now on to the senate. 78 Dems were yes - a good sign that the Senate can get the needed Dem support … although we have yet to see the actual text of what the Senate is proposing.
House is voting NOW on the first of three crypto bills. First up is CLARITY, the market structure bill that defines when digital assets are a security or a commodity. Big q is how many Dems will support. Last time House took a similar vote, 71 Dems supported.
My understanding is now that rescissions has passed the Senate the deadline doesn’t really matter. If the bill passes the House after the deadline, the money is still clawed back. What mattered was fast track in the Senate cc @BBKogan
For what it's worth, every minute Republicans delay taking up the rescission bill, the easier it becomes for Democrats to delay the bill and go past the midnight deadline on Friday. At this point, how long would Hakeem Jeffries have to speak to kill the bill?
NEW: House Republicans are eager to leave Washington to avoid more votes on releasing the Epstein files “People are like, ‘What the fuck is the president doing?’” one GOP member said w/ @meredithllee politico.com/news/2025/07/1…
The House Rules Committee still hasn’t met to advance a rescissions rule, which the House is slated to vote on in the ~4 p.m. series. Time is tight — the rescissions deadline is tomorrow and if Rs try to vote at the last minute, Dems could use delay tactics

The House GOP finally forged a path forward on its crypto bills. Now, Democrats' crypto chasm will be on display. For @bgov: news.bgov.com/bloomberg-gove…
not voting: Massie, Mark Green, Rob Bresnahan, and Mikie Sherrill
The crypto vote has been open for more than 4 hours now. Hardliners and leaders on Financial Services/Agriculture have reached an impasse. Speaker Mike Johnson is trying to broker a deal to adopt the rule and unfreeze the floor. Sound familiar?
