@JSMeikle
If found, please return to the nearest pub or Catholic church. It’s pronounced Meekle as in treacle - an old Scots word meaning 'big or large'.
The Catholic response to violence.
GAZA Cardinal Pizzaballa prays the Rosary with Catholic children in Holy Family Church today
Very good to hear (even if few in Parliament did!)
I gave a speech today in an empty chamber. It’s about the need for a Christian restoration.
Absolutely horrific. Prayers for the local Church and all involved. This conflict cannot end soon enough
Cardinal Pizzaballa: “What we know for sure is that a tank, the IDF says by mistake, but we are not sure about this, they hit the Church directly, the Church of the Holy Family, the Latin Church” Images of the only Catholic Church in Gaza before and after today’s attack.
More!
Something you don’t see every day: a Catholic Mass being celebrated in Canterbury Cathedral—once the very heart of the English Reformation—led for the first time by the Pope’s ambassador to the UK, in honour of the martyred St Thomas Becket.
Great joy to be in Rome last week for a #Jubilee2025 gathering of 4,000 seminarians from around the world inc. a strong contingent from @RC_Southwark 💪 🙏 rcsouthwark.co.uk/news-events/ne…
Don’t agree with the public naming and shaming, but if your faith has no relevance to what you do during the week then you need to ask what good it is doing… Also, very discouraging to those Catholics who are trying to live out their faith.
This was utterly disrespectful to my family, my constituents including the congregation, and the democratic process. My private religion will continue to have zero direct relevance to my work as an MP representing all my constituents without fear or favour. 3/3
Great joy to be one of them.
Pope Leo is greeted warmly by seminarians in the Vatican today, with many taking the chance to kiss his ring. @Pontifex spoke to thousands of seminarians about the priesthood, during the Jubilee of Seminarians.
One of the darkest days in our nation's history. Children that can easily survive outside of the womb can be killed without consequence. Absolutely shameful.
Parliament has voted to decriminalise abortion up to birth. It wasn't even close.
This and a major vote on the assisted suicide bill as well. Big week in Westminster. If you have faith then please pray!
Tomorrow Parliament will vote on whether to allow abortion to birth. These extreme amendments are supposedly intended to stop the prosecution of women who conduct their own late term abortions. But there’s a reason these prosecutions have increased in recent years - it’s…
The King’s message following the death of Pope Francis.
Incredibly sad news. A blessing that he lived to see Easter, and is now surely enjoying the eternal Easter feast in heaven! May he rest in peace 🙏
Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta.
Yeah yeah yeaaaaah
450 people will be received into the Catholic Church tonight across the Archdiocese of Southwark. Another 500 in the Archdiocese of Westminster.
Congratulations Lady Prentis!
It is a huge privilege to have been recognised in the former Prime Minister's resignation honours. In the Lords, I hope to focus on my areas of interest: the law and the countryside, and to continue to support justice for Ukraine.
Che occasione speciale! A special moment for Their Majesties as they privately met His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican yesterday. The King and Queen were deeply touched by The Pope’s kind remarks about their 20th wedding anniversary and honoured to be able to share their…
Deo gratias!
Pope Francis greeted some three thousand faithful gathered in the square in front of the entrance to Rome's Gemelli hospital, saying “thank you to everyone!” vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2…
A great blessing to have this man as my Bishop.
This is the way to reclaim Europe’s Catholic identity! Catholic Archbishop of Southwark in the United Kingdom John Wilson leads over 100 primary school children in Eucharistic adoration at St. George’s Cathedral in Southwark. Video: @RC_Southwark
Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return #AshWednesday

Something is stirring…
New research in @thetimes this weekend. Shows Gen Z are the ‘open’ generation in term of spirituality and the least likely to define as atheist. I know that my Gen Z teenage children seem to find sharing/talking about their faith in public far easier than I did when I was their…
Agree, just not on Friday though!
What a bland, soggy old sandwich! 😅 For some proper red meat, it’s got to be @Conservatives! 🥩
