Great thread on the recent PJM auction. More importantly, this is a theme popping up all around the US (and broadly the west). We need more capacity asap, from all sources.
Let's take a look at @pjminterconnect's capacity auction, shall we? This market is tighter than a pair of skinny jeans. Only 17 MWs of capacity [solar, it would seem] was offered but did not clear (out of 134,205 MWs). 🧵

“This is a pretty unique moment in time. I'm sure most of you have noticed that. I am president of Xcel Minnesota, North, and South Dakota. We have about a 10,000 MW system. We have about 1,000 MW of DERs in our system today, and we’re on track to more than double that by 2030...…

Employee insurance is insanely complicated. Level funded, self insured, composite vs age rates, co pays, co-insurance, deductibles, employer contribution %, differing provider networks, etc. So important to get right though, both for employees and the company.
Socialism will take root in America unless capitalism begins to work for more people and raises the foundation for all. We already spend more on healthcare, housing, and education than any nation. We have the minds and the money. Just need political leaders to prioritize repair…

This shift is happening fast. @basepowerco, we’re seeing more and more families skip solar entirely and go battery-first—for resiliency, simplicity, and clear savings. Solar’s still useful, but it’s just part of the equation now.
Not everyone realizes it yet, but the residential solar industry is now the residential battery industry. Solar will just be a low cost add-on to batteries. Resiliency (both home and grid) is the primary driver.

Heard from an ex-Palantir guy in 🇬🇧 this past weekend: People will tell you that they are delayed by a week. I rephrase it as percent of a year: “ ‘Are you sure that you are delayed by a whole 2% of a year? Can we make it 1%?’ “
The most succinct post in a great thread on the subject.
The move higher in long-term yields around the globe is pointing to the elephant in the room. No politician wants to be the one to cut spending, despite rising deficits. Japan is simply foreshadowing what could be next for many countries around the world, including the US.
The collapse of Japan's bond market has been incredibly telling. In fact, we are beginning to see some similarities in the US as deficit spending accelerates. It almost seems like investors have lost confidence in the Japanese government's ability to pay down debt.
Excellent candidate said he found us via the @sourceryvc podcast today. Great stuff.
So excited for this episode. Detroit’s story needs more awesome journalists like Ashlee covering it.
When shooting an episode on Detroit, one needs solid metal. Thx to the folks at @GM for the all electric loaner. 450 miles of range. Not bad
