Guys, it's H-E-double-hockey-sticks from now on in @MISO_energy, America's You-Betcha electricity market-->

Thank you @Calpine for this week's tour of the Geysers, the California geothermal power complex that incorporates numerous power plants (like the one pictured), a >100-mile pipeline network, and its own electric distribution system.

Congress has my head spinning but: -House bill included "in service" requirement for renewable tax credits -Senate floor draft was "hold my beer": including "in service" & an excise tax -Senate *passed* legislation has "begin construction" by mid-2026 for full credit What next?!
Congratulations to Mark Christie on an extraordinary career in public service, especially all the mentorship he has provided to so many in the regulation of public utilities: a field that is having a renaissance of late for obvious reasons.
Tomorrow is my last FERC Open Meeting. I have been in public office since Gov. Allen of Va. asked me to join his office as a legal and policy adviser 31 yrs. ago. And past 21 yrs. as a state and federal energy regulator. I will have a lot of "thank yous" tomorrow!
Already filled the S'mores quota for the season, so 🫡
Hershey is increasing their prices by 20% due to higher prices from tariffs. And take a wild guess who is paying for all of it?
Kid keeps winning tic-tac-toe under general relativity rules!

Clearing out the pantry & fridge, an obviously overdue exercise. This time 'round, the Award for Most Neglected goes to the whole, dry juniper berries -- no memory whatsoever of the recipe those were bought for. Runner up: plum vinegar Honorable mention: cocktail onions

The saddest thing I have ever read probably, but for the sake of bearing witness and remembering in prayer, sharing this:
My colleague Aaron Parsley and his family were swept away in their home by the Guadalupe River. His harrowing story and their loss are described in one of the most important pieces @TexasMonthly has ever published. texasmonthly.com/news-politics/…
Tfw trying to download the PUC of Ohio's order establishing a new tariff for data centers (as opposed to large loads generally, which is what most states have done) but their website keeps crashing.
A mere block away from the fabulous, longtime U-C watering hole Woodlawn Tap!
Pope Leo in 1980.
One of the weirder things to happen lately in the power markets: California has become a huge exporter during its peak season. Meanwhile the rest of the West has hollowed out its fossil capacity, leaning on Cali's battery/gas/renewable abundance. (thank you Cali ratepayers!)

Amusing that, after popularizing previously taboo subjects, right-wing European parties are moving on to something more controversial than immigration: Air-conditioning!
European countries with hot summers should have AC in most buildings, and we should install solar panels that supply the necessary electricity just fine on hot and sunny days. It's crazy AC is uncommon in the UK — doubly so in France.
