Just pinging this for context. It happened again in 2024. So... During the 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024 deadlines there wasn't a single trade where the rental bat was the focus that returned a top 100 prospect according to Pipeline.
Rental bats traded at the deadline historically don't bring back top 100 prospects, even the really good rental bats. During the 2021, 2022, & 2023 deadlines there wasn't a single trade where the rental bat was the focus that returned a top 100 prospect according to Pipeline.
James Triantos has been on an absolute tear lately and it continues tonight in Louisville where he’s 2-4 with a home run. Triantos has hit safely in five-straight games. Three of those are multi-hit contests. A healthy Triantos showing once again what he can do.
I had the privilege of shooting the signing ceremony and some posed shots for the Cubs 2025 draft picks! First up is outfielder @ethanconrad23 who was a 1st round pick! #Cubs #CubsProspects #2025MLBDraft
In the second round of the 2025 MLB draft, the Cubs selected outfielder @KaneKepley. Kane and Jake Knapp were teammates at North Carolina and will now be together in the Cubs organization. #Cubs #CubsProspects #2025MLBDraft
James Triantos has been at the top of the @IowaCubs batting order for each of the last three games and has started each of them with a line drive single.
Totally that time of year, but the sense I’ve gotten is that Jaxon Wiggins not pitching tonight isn’t related to a trade. Could always just be a load issue or building back up. Doesn’t mean he won’t be traded, just this doesn’t sound like it’s related
Not to send everyone into a frenzy while watching this horrendous baseball game, but haven’t seen it mentioned on here yet that Jaxon Wiggins was scratched from his start for Knoxville tonight.

Felt like a good day to drop this. Click the link for the rankings and write ups, but if we’re thinking in tiers: 1-4, 5-6, 7-15, 16-idk. Trade the right ones, Jed. bleachernation.com/cubs/2025/07/2…
One month before being picked No. 2 overall, Tyler Bremner lost his mother. She battled a terminal cancer diagnosis. "Her dream" was to see Tyler drafted. I spoke with Tyler about Jen Bremner. Who she was, what she meant & the pain of her loss. Read: nytimes.com/athletic/65136…
James Triantos is 2-2 for the @IowaCubs in Louisville tonight. He’s got two multi-hit games in his last three contests and really put it together now that he’s healthy.

Cubs position players ranked by fWAR from 2000-2025. Pete keeps moving way up.

I mean, they're not involving him. Unless it's something astronomical.
Matt Shaw on trade rumors.’ I have no idea what those really are out there. Not knowing makes it easy for me .I am excited for us. I believe we will do everything we can to win a World Series.’
This is OUTSTANDING.
Oh my Xavier Edwards just made one of the smartest baserunning moves I've ever seen.
Games like this are frustrating to watch. But also a good reminder that if the Cubs lose today's game, they will be 11-7 in July. That's a .611 winning percentage and a 99 win pace.
