As returns continue in Wad Madani, IOM & @HDPO12 held a Health Awareness Day, sharing cholera prevention tips & key hygiene messages through drama performances at schools & markets. With support from @AustrianDev - together we are keeping communities safe.




After years of conflict, many schools in Khartoum were left in ruins. But one is can now operate in better condition. IOM has rehabilitated Omdurman Technical School, helping families and returnees get their children back to class. Made possible thanks to the Republic of Korea



In port Sudan, I had fruitful exchange with Mr. Osman Hussein, Sec. Gen. of Sudan’s Council of Ministers, and Amb. Hussain El Amin of @MofaSudan. IOM’s partnership with Sudan is vital. Since April 2023, we’ve reached 3.3M+ people and we’re scaling up for recovery & development
My meeting with the Director of the Secretariat of Sudanese Working Abroad was also key in guiding IOM’s support for the Sudanese diaspora — our long-term partners in recovery and development. Boosting diaspora contributions remains a key IOM priority.
Just arrived in #Sudan, where needs are immense, but so is the resilience of its people. Humbled to meet our dedicated staff delivering amid hardship. IOM remains committed to standing with Sudan and finding every way to support those we serve.
Our Regional Director @OthmanBelbeisi is in #Sudan this week. Alongside the Chief of Mission, he’ll meet senior officials in Port Sudan & Khartoum and hear directly from those affected by the war to help advocate for the more than 30 million people in Sudan in urgent need.

In partnership with @UNDP_Sudan and @GlobalFund IOM is operating six mobile clinics in Kassala, Argeen, Merowe, Gedaref and the Red Sea, providing over 42,000 with medical care, nutrition, and mental health services. These clinics provide a vital lifeline for the most vulnerable

Cholera is spreading and IOM is responding. IOM's cholera response has reached more than 600,000 people in 5 states including: 🏥 166K reached at 27 health facilities 💧 540K provided safe water 🚽 23K reached with 157 latrines, 320 underway 🧼 Hygiene kits & awareness raising




In Blue Nile 🇸🇩, 50 women proved that shared skills can build more than incomes, they can rebuild connection. With 🇳🇴 support to the #SudanMPTF, @IOMSudan, @FAOSudan, @UNDP_Sudan training in food processing & marketing helped them earn +330K SDG and strengthen #socialcohesion.
In crisis settings, many displaced mothers give birth without basic care. In Port Sudan, IOM, Shamaa NGO, and the Ministry of Social Development are distributing post-delivery kits, supporting 600 mothers and newborns. Made possible with EU funding.

Stranded for days, 5,000+ people, many children, fleeing the Sudan–Libya–Egypt triangle crossed into Sudan, exhausted and dehydrated. IOM, NADA & Halfa Emergency Rooms responded with: ✅ Food ✅ Water ✅ Health & protection support Despite the harsh conditions, aid continues.




In May, IOM & @darfur_and delivered 1,500 emergency shelter kits, reaching 9,400 people in Dar Alsalam, Al Tawisha & Al Lait, North Darfur. As displacement continues, additional shelters are on their way to support another 5,000 people in need An RRF grant made possible by USAID




Thousands of displaced Sudanese are returning home to Wad Madani to find neighborhoods overwhelmed by trash and waste. IOM & HDPO are running community-led cleanups in Al-Makei & Jazirat Alfail, bringing hygiene and dignity to their neighbourhoods. Made possible by @AustrianDev




Cholera is spreading in Omdurman, with over 21,000 cases in Khartoum. In response, IOM with @ZeroWasteSudan delivered 360,000+ liters of clean water to affected areas: Ombada, Karrari & Omdurman This is possible thanks to the IOM Rapid Response Fund funded by USAID



Mass displacement in North Darfur is straining health services, putting families at risk. Through its Rapid Response Fund IOM & @SAPA_ORG are: ✅ Running mobile clinics in 12 villages ✅ Rehabilitating 4 clinics ✅ Reaching 11,661 people with vital care Made possible by USAID



The cost of inaction has grave consequences for migrants in Sudan. As food insecurity worsens, it’s putting lives at risk—damaging health and increasing vulnerability to disease. With support from @NLinSudan, IOM distributed food baskets to 435 vulnerable migrants in Port Sudan.
