Thank you @DBGMilitaria v quick delivery for these. An anon Burma Star, & an original photo of 25 Dragoons advancing towards Razabil Fortress in late Jan 1944-a crucial moment in the Burma Campaign, where bunker busting methods were first used in combat. A few weeks later these…

I wonder if the Americans based it on Blitzkrieg which is after all Lightning war . It's fascinating how language spreads and evolves . I think Al used it in the pod so who knows you might see it applied to more WW2 things . You need to find an opposite to apply to XXX corps
A VERY HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY to the wonderful @pte_hammond, #veteran of the #BurmaCampaign of #WW2 & tireless fundraiser across #Africa in #covid, his achievements r #legend in #Ghana. Many congratulations on reaching this great milestone in life! ‼️🎂🎈🥳🎉
Have been wondering ever since I saw the cover of our very own @HistoryBowsh excellent new book on Burma . How exactly Meiktila was pronounced and now I know. Is this the first use of Thunder Run ? I assume it's derived from Blitzkrieg somehow ?
