Our brain operates at various spatial scales, from local to global. Do they govern different functions? A broad review on multiscale brain & cognition, out in @TrendsCognSci spanning Cog/Sys/Comp Neuro work in 🐭🐵🧑! Team @JeongjunPark2 @monicarosenb authors.elsevier.com/c/1k2DP4sIRvTB…

Check out this tour de force work by @JeongjunPark2 on task representation in PFC!🧠⭐️
🚨NEW PREPRINT🚨 Happy to share my PhD work: Spatial information was consistently represented across tasks in a low-dimensional subspace of PFC activity, while task identity was encoded in an orthogonal subspace, providing a stable and independent representation of context.
I am excited to announce that my latest project with @WilmaBainbridge is now out as a preprint! We were able to engineer the memorability of symbols by designing some to be highly memorable and others to be highly forgettable. Read it here: doi.org/10.31234/osf.i…
This work is now out! Check out our paper on generalizable brain network model of surprise. Grateful for @monicarosenb for being the most supportive mentor!
In this Article, @zzwziwei and @monicarosenb build a model that predicts surprise from brain network dynamics revealing similarities across distinct contexts (task learning, basketball watching, and cartoon viewing). @UChicagoPsych @UChicago_Brains nature.com/articles/s4156…
(1/5) Very excited to announce the publication of Bayesian Models of Cognition: Reverse Engineering the Mind. More than a decade in the making, it's a big (600+ pages) beautiful book covering both the basics and recent work: mitpress.mit.edu/9780262049412/…
Finally,😄 the first project during my Ph.D. program is published in @PLOSBiology. We examined the spatiotemporal brain dynamics of context and sensory information integration in pain. Thanks my advisor @choongwanwoo and co-authors @hong_seok_jun @lizlosin.
During #pain, the sensory input is modulated by contextual information. @SuhwanGim @choongwanwoo &co show how expectation & sensory input are integrated in the human brain during #PainPerception, revealing its spatiotemporal architecture #PLOSBiology plos.io/4fsaanu

🎙️ New Engineering the Future episode! Join grad students Addison Schwamb & BethAnna Jones from #WashUESE as they explore brain dynamics through math, engineering and human health — plus, they'll debunk some sci-fi myths. 🔗ow.ly/9RKp50U6yrk #WashUEngineers #podcast
Good and timely review on how the brain operates on different scales and how to understand and measure this!

really cool review, with excellent coverage of both systems and cognitive neuroscience

Excited to share our review paper with @HayoungSong5 and @monicarosenb, now out in @TrendsCognSci🚨! We propose that each brain spatial scale may uniquely contribute to cognitive functions. authors.elsevier.com/c/1k2DP4sIRvTB…

AHA! What's happening in the brain at moments of insight?🧠💡How do we comprehend ongoing causal structures based on memory? #sfn2024 Come find out in our talk on Wed 11am, NANO56.13! session Human LTM: Encoding and Retrieval🙌 CHI❤️

I've decided Joey will just always beat me to announcing my own work... Anyway, check out our new paper in the Journal of Neuroscience!! We replicate and (significantly?) extend Thyer et al.'s finding of a generalizable WM load signal. But that's not all...
Cortically disparate visual features evoke content-independent load signals during storage in working memory jneurosci.org/content/early/…
Different brain regions encode different pain-related information, such as the expectation of pain or the intensity of a stimulus. But where and how is this information integrated? My paper has just been published in @ScienceAdvances! (1/13) science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
How to fix Nerd Neck 🪄 By popular demand, here's a thread of tips for addressing this increasingly common issue.
2 poster problem solved- catch me at posters 2051&2052 for the final day of #OHBM24
How much do we really understand about how the brain processes movies/stories? Come to poster #0948 today/tomorrow at #OHBM2024! With @esfinn and our all-star collaborators @HayoungSong5, @headspace_lab, and @monicarosenb
Super excited to attend @OHBM for the first time! At #OHBM2024, I will present my work with @monicarosenb on “The neural signatures of ongoing thoughts during rest” (poster #957, summary below). Looking forward to connecting with old and new friends!
