Thank you, Houston, for showing up to peacefully exercise your Constitutional rights. This is how it’s done.
HFD Special Events successfully provided EMS support for a large protest at City Hall with an estimated 10k attendees. No major incidents - just a few minor calls. Thanks to our Special Events team and Command Staff for keeping Houstonians safe! 👨🚒 📸@houstonpolice
Today @HFDChiefMunoz & Command Staff honored our civilian recruiting team who helped process thousands of applicants over 18 months. Thanks to their dedication + support from @houmayor, we celebrated our largest cadet graduation ever. Your work is rebuilding HFD! #HoustonFire
While attending the groundbreaking for Selena Quintanilla-Perez Park, I ran into the crew from Engine 41, who were responding at the park for a heat-related illness. Thanks to our crews in the field, and please everyone stay safe in this summer weather.

We stand in solemn solidarity with our brothers and sisters @CDAFirefighters as they mourn this devastating loss. May we all join together in honoring the fallen and lifting up their loved ones in this time of grief.
Congratulations to our 102 new fire fighters! The largest cadet class in @HoustonFire’s history!!
Family Day at the Academy is when loved ones get to come to the Val Janke Training Facility to see the hard work of cadets finally pay off. It's here that these cadets receive their helmet, name tag for their bunker coat, and ring the ceremonial bell atop the tower.

Great work by our Arson investigators to clear the case on the fire at this beloved restaurant.
A man is arrested, charged in connection with the fire that destroyed Captain Benny’s Seafood Restaurant in northwest Houston. HFD Arson investigators believe he carelessly discarded a lit cigarette that started a fire in the bushes nearby. MORE: ayrs.io/piEf08
Chris is one of the best— calm under pressure, full of good ideas, and successful at bringing them to fruition. It’s been an honor to work with him. Best wishes, friend.
Today we celebrated 🎉our Chief of Staff, Chris Newport, with cookies, milk, and gratitude! After 18 months of dedicated service and leadership for @HoustonTX, Chris is leaving to spend more time with family. His impact has been lasting, and his future is bright. #TeamWhitmire
Here’s a couple photos from presenting at city council for next year’s budget. Our priorities will remain staffing, stations, and apparatus to keep us moving towards the world-class department I know we can become. Thanks to the command staff for their support.

Alford represents something much larger than the hardworking firefighter he was. Like Mayor Lee P. Brown, Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, and Reverend Jack Yates, Inspector Alford is embedded into the history of Houston and will be remembered for his commitment to public service.
Milton Alford, HFD’s first Black firefighter, has died. Please join us in honoring his memory and supporting his loved ones. Read more— mailchi.mp/houstontx/milt…
The Honor Guard is an integral part of the firefighting tradition. From the day a firefighter is sworn in until the day they pass, the Honor Guard is there, providing steadfast commitment and support. I’m deeply proud of the 8 members who joined the Honor Guard today.

The crew at 93s was kind enough to have me over this Easter morning. Please keep our firefighters and dispatchers in your thoughts as they work this and every other holiday. Emergencies don’t take the day off, and neither do we. Happy Easter to you and your families.

On this Good Friday, I stopped by a fish fry at the American Legion Hall Harrisburg Post #472 to spend time with our veterans and retired firefighters. I am proud to find friends among these brave men and women.

@HFDChiefMunoz @HoustonFire I want to say a big thank you to the fire station guys and their Captain at Station #29. Somehow my puppy got stuck under my car seat’s metal bar, impeding her breathing. The only thing I knew was to get help & they freed her! Sassy is back to normal
It was a pleasure to meet with @UHpres and Vice Chancellor Bartlett and congratulate them on the incredible season our @UHCougarMBK had this year. #GoCoogs

Up before the sun today to testify before the Texas Senate Transportation Committee. I’ll be discussing the impact providing our emergency services on HCTRA’s toll roads has on the bottom line of @HoustonTX’s finances.

What a wonderful opportunity to participate in the 50th Greater Houston Prayer Breakfast. It was an honor to read from scripture and to hear from historic athletes Lance Berkman, @AndrewDEast & @ShawnJohnson East.

Whether serving in disaster, celebrating our softball team, or just hanging out at the station with the rank and file, I have the best job in @HoustonTX. Long nights and hard days are worth it every single time when it means connecting with my team @HoustonFire. We got you.

Ever wondered what it takes to outfit a Houston firefighter? This eye-opening article breaks down the extensive—and expensive—gear that protects HFD's bravest while they protect you. #HoustonFire shorturl.at/ZhI3m
