It’s always nice to see friends at the @astros game! ⚾️ Mayor Whitmire caught up with Trae Tha Truth tonight. Grateful for his commitment to helping others, including Houstonians and his recent work distributing supplies to people affected by the tragic Central Texas floods.

This week, Mayor Whitmire joined CM Kamin in presenting a proclamation to the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities in honor of the 35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Mayor remains committed to building a more inclusive & accessible city for all.

Yesterday, the Mayor joined leaders from @METROHouston , Evolve Houston, Shell, U of H & CenterPoint Energy to explore how clean, flexible microtransit can better serve Houston. Cleaner. Smarter. More connected. That’s the future we’re building for Houston.

Today, the Quality-of-Life Committee heard from 18 speakers supporting and 22 opposing the proposed motor-assisted scooter free zone. The Mayor said this is the first step in the process & more discussions are coming to refine the proposal before it goes to Council for a vote.

On the proposed scooter ban:

Mayor Whitmire was happy to speak at the 2025 Road & Rail Safety Workshop organized by Senator @CarolforTexas, TxDOT, @TAGHouston, & the East End District. The Mayor is working directly with Union Pacific & partners to fix dangerous rail crossings & make our streets safer.

Mayor Whitmire welcomed Johnny Mata of @LULAC @naacp_hou & others to City Hall for a meaningful discussion on public safety and community engagement. The mayor and @houstonpolice reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, accountability, & building trust with all Houstonians.

Take a listen to the reforms, Director Larius Hassen from @HoustonTrash, has taken in the past 90 days regarding cans, routes & recycling. There is still a lot to do to completely rectify the Solid Waste Department but he is taking the necessary steps in the right direction.

Houston, you have a new Solid Waste Director! This morning, Mayor Whitmire officially named Larius Hassen as the Director of @HoustonTrash due to his efficient & smart reforms he has put in place to help revitalize a department that has had years of neglect & mismanagement.

Today at council, Mayor Whitmire had the honor of presenting a proclamation alongside CM Huffman recognizing the Houston based nonprofit Lily's Toy Box. Thank you Lily for caring so much about other children and congratulations on creating a nationally recognized nonprofit!
