If you’re looking for competitive advantages for your athletes…give Danielle a follow!!👇
“The art of coaching”,… I’ve seen this written a few different times lately. Art is an interesting word in itself. Martial arts… for me, this means to learn, then drill what I’ve learned so I can train what I’ve learned in order to COMPETE utilizing the particular martial art…

“The unkindly spirit of the teacher is strikingly apparent…” Going back to school next month…@sethgodin quote YOU CAN’T OUT OBEDIENCE THE COMPETITION rings in my ears.

Now I understand @GregSankey last tweet. “The other conference.” 😉
Penn State’s James Franklin was asked today about playing Pitt. He segued from that answer to his position statement on nine conference games.
There’s recruit life and there’s real life. When you arrive on campus you better be ready…if you want to swim in deep water!!!
When asked about the fact that none of last year’s freshmen are no longer with the team, Wes Johnson said “We don’t make guarantees to anybody.”
My grandfather left school in 8th grade. The school mandated that he raise a pig. His father said “you’re not raising a pig.” That was the end of his schooling.
“Compulsory school isn’t un-American; other things are mandatory too.” Oh, are you referring to the much loved and wildly popular military draft, jury duty, and income tax? Pretty great company we keep, eh?
What you can see…the lead leg and its ability to flex. What you can’t see…the mind’s approach to a moving object. Yes, yes, yes is more than a cliche. Hitting is a mind/body problem always!
When pitchers start to command the breaking ball it changes everything. It forces hitters to respond to two pitches. 1. They better be extremely quick. 2. They better be able to adjust in. 3. Their lead leg better have some flexibility. Do no takes, no foul balls!!
What if…they’re football players? Everyone’s path is unique and different. #RunYourRace
“Taking the fall off” to “workout” is a very poor strategy in this era of recruiting. More high school players will get college offers in the fall than in the summer. If you can’t workout and play at the same time, you won’t make it in college baseball anyways.
When someone says “No one cares how hard you throw BALL 4” I offer exhibit A. 👇
Survivorship Bias in the VELOCITY/COMMAND debate. @GoWagsBret @RandySullivanPT
I’m a Penn St. fan. I’m a James Franklin fan. His consistency, recruiting ability and player commitment seem👌. Yet, I feel I’m in the minority. Why are fans generally dissatisfied w/ their coach despite independent analysts suggesting otherwise? Even Ryan Day isn’t loved.🤔
Bill Connelly ranked the best coaches in College Football… Thoughts?
If given the choice between talent in sport or love of sport…choose love!!!

The 1st and 3rd safety squeeze is popular b/c the 1b must hold the runner. This is a tough read for the runner at 3rd though as pace isn’t great. Puts pressure on the runner at 3rd when he can’t discern whether it’s definitely past the pitcher!
A’s Nick Kurtz with athletic barehand flip defending this safety squeeze. The likelihood of this being successful with a glove flip is much lower.
Starting pitcher was struggling. Turned corner in the 3rd. Me: “So what changed? What adjustment did you make?” 13 yr. old: “Went back to my three finger grip. I guess I’m just not quite ready for two.” Reminder…people develop differently. Allow for it. He was throwing ⛽️.
