🎉Thrilled to receive the Lopez-Loreta Prize 2024! This award allows me to establish my own research team and tackle key questions on protein aggregation. Grateful to the Foundation, my mentors Tuomas & Matthias, and all amazing colleagues who've supported me in this journey!✨️

🎉 Honored to receive the 𝐉𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 at the #PIsOfTomorrow competition by @LS2Switzerland ! It was an amazing opportunity to share my research vision & discuss what's ahead! A big 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 to the organizers, jury, sponsors & everyone who supported me! 🙌

Last week, I had the pleasure of participating as a panelist at the #SymBLS Symposium 2024🔬"Academia and Industry: Collaboration at the Cutting Edge", hosted at St Catharine's College, @Cambridge_Uni. Many thanks to the organisers Caitlan, Ellie, and Oisha for this great event😊

Very excited to be one of the panelists for the Chemistry Department's Gender Equality Network event "Breaking Barriers: Elevating Women in Research Careers" @Cambridge_Uni. Join us for a discussion on careers, experiences as women in science, and advancing gender equality!👩⚕️

❗️pH matters❗️ Excited to share that my first co-corresponding author paper is out in @Dev_Cell! 🔬We've uncovered an evolutionarily conserved mechanism regulating amyloid formation and disassembly via pH-sensing regions in yeast & humans. Check it out😊 authors.elsevier.com/a/1j8Mj5Sx5gxk…

📣 Good news! As negotiations between the 🇪🇺 EU and 🇨🇭 Switzerland have been officially launched today, researchers based in Switzerland can now once again apply for ERC grants. Read more 👉 erc.europa.eu/news-events/ne…
Fantastic news for science! Now the same with Switzerland?🇨🇭🇪🇺🇬🇧
We have just reached a political agreement on the UK's participation in Horizon Europe and Copernicus. It will allow the EU and UK to deepen their relationship in research, innovation and space, bringing together research and space communities. More ↓
Huge congratulations to our postdoctoral researcher @GeaCereghetti who was awarded the SAIS Prize for the best doctoral thesis in the Life Sciences! Gea's PhD work in @PeterLab8 at ETH Zurich was focused on protein aggregation and reversible amyloids.
Great achievement from former PhD student @GeaCereghetti @ETH_DBIOL Her thesis work on reversible aggregation of metabolic enzyme cdc19 is outstanding. Very well deserved and many congratulations 🎊 💐 Wish you many more success in the future. @ETH_en
I am extremely honoured to have received the SAIS Award for the best doctoral thesis in the "Life Sciences" category. I would like to thank the Society of Italian Academics in Switzerland for this recognition, which further inspires me to pursue my reseach endeavours.🔬🧬

Happy reunion with former lab members @GeaCereghetti and @Vera_Kissling at the CELLULAR MATTERS Conference on #Monteverita These were nourishing 4 days filled with great talks and exciting discussions on #condensates, #phaseseparation, #aging & more #bringingmaterialstolive
On our way to the Cellular Matters conference in Monte Verità! Come and see our posters on protein aggregates, protein self-assembly, #imaging and novel materials if you're there! @GeaCereghetti @ETH_en @Empa_CH #BringingMaterialstoLife #proteinaggregation #materialscience
A lovely piece of home that I carried with me across the Channel☺️
~3~ A farm in the mountains for Gea. 🌄 Gouache on canvas painted by me in 2022 as her leaving present for her UK adventure. #paintingoftheday #gouache #canvas
When immunology meets amyloid aficionados...😊 Check out our latest @biorxivpreprint ➡️ bit.ly/3LXa9fr . We show how oxidation-sensitive cysteines control the formation of IL-38 amyloids in our skin.🔬 Shout out to Alex, Gaby, and the whole team!
IL-1 family #cytokines are fascinating! @GCIR_Unige Pr Gaby Palmer and her team suggest in this new preprint that the formation of IL 38 condensates may be involved in #epidermal differentiation & #skin homeostasis. Read it here! bit.ly/3LXa9fr @unige_en @Hopitaux_unige
CELLULAR MATTERS Conference on biomolecular #condensate #properties #functions and #applications in June 2023 on Lake Maggiore (CH). Pre-registration and abstract submission mandatory (limited to 80 participants). Deadline March 1st, 2023. cellular-matters-conf2023.ethz.ch
Last week I said goodbye to the @PeterLab8 & @ETH_en. My PhD has been a wonderful journey, and I'm very grateful to my mentor Matthias, my collaborators, and all the incredible people I met along the way. Thank you for all the great memories...now on to the next adventure!🇬🇧

I had a great time at the #JacquesMonodConference in Brittany 🇫🇷! Many thanks to the organizers @EllenNollen and Ronald Melki for 4 days of exciting science and inspiring discussions...always with a view🌊! @SBRoscoff @CNRS

Very much looking forward to give a talk at the Jacques Monod Conference on ageing and age-related diseases! @SBRoscoff @CNRS @Sorbonne_Univ_ 💡 I'll be presenting my PhD work showing how reversible #amyloids of pyruvate kinase couple #metabolism and #stressgranule disassembly.

"Having Switzerland and UK out of EU programs hurts European science and its competitiveness on the global scale", ETH Zurich professor @mvechev writes. "Creating artificial scientific borders has never worked, regardless of what the reason is." #HorizonEurope @Stick2Science
Already looking forward to #ProAgg24! Many thanks to the organizers for this exciting meeting🙂 @VIBConferences @VIB_Switch_Lab @PeterLab8
With @GeaCereghetti we are back from Leuven. The intense #ProAgg22 conference has seeded new ideas that we will now spread in the @PeterLab8
