CA remains an outlier even among states that allow post-EDay mail ballot arrival and ballot curing. But if you want speed and accuracy, you need to drive people to cast in-person ballots (early included) and require all mail ballots to be in hand by 5pm on E Day.
I'll never understand this fascination with speed = competence in elections. So if I just chuck out literally any number 5 minutes after polls close my election will be considered efficient and accurate? (There are a number of reasons CA takes a long time to count)
