You cannot appreciate C.S. Lewis's stubborn defense/appropriation of paganism and romanticism from a worldviewish mindset--at least not one that prematurely dismisses insight because it came from the wrong section of the grid.
The obsession with getting ingredients of dubious health value out of terrible foods because "health" is a perfect encapsulation of MAHA's incompetence. It's like asking the mugger to make sure he donates 10% of his proceeds from your wallet to charity.
Froot Loops is finally following its nose — toward common sense. Thanks to the many parents who spoke out and pressured @KelloggsUS to remove harmful food dyes from its products. I urge more companies to step up and join the movement to Make America Healthy Again.
War-of-the-sexes discourse is so dumb. The ultimate rake-stomp for civilization. Nobody wins.
a week apart:
In Tolkien’s Letters to Father Christmas, the people of the North Pole speak Arktik, which is actually Quenya. Also, Father Christmas’s secretary is Ilbereth, which sounds a lot like Elbereth, aka Varda. All signs point to Father Christmas being a great Elf-lord, or perhaps even…
What's a conspiracy theory you believe with your whole heart?
Just saw this thing in Miami with the kids. Wildly humongous.
Five times bigger than the Titanic. At 248,663 gross tonnage (GT), Icon of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world. The vessel has a max carrying capacity of 7,600 guests and 2,350 crew.
Sci-fi’s essential purpose is warning. Fantasy’s essential purpose is reminding.

Paid too much to see Jurassic World Rebirth in the theater with the boys last night. Really fun entry that doesn't try to be anything other than what it is, and that self- forgetfulness and simplicity makes it better than most of the pretentious sequels.
The best thing John MacArthur did wasn't any of his dramatic or controversial stuff. It was the quiet, anodyne expository preaching that aired on the radio for decades. Faithful repetition of this quiet biblical duty was his main legacy despite his fame, and it's not even close.
Stigma is underrated. It serves a useful purpose as a middle ground between prohibition and full acceptance as a valid economic or social activity. This is the kind of product that should have stigma! (Some ideas here borrowed from @InezFeltscher.)
Maybe the real Epstein client list was the friends we made along the way.
President Trump snaps at reporter who asks him Epstein question. Trump is massively misreading his base on this.
they tried to "un-woke a robot and it went full nazi" is something out of an episode of 30 Rock
a reminder that Machen’s liberalism, as distinct from Christianity, can’t be definitively described as “leftism.” no, in our day that liberalism is quite equally represented by both the “left” and the “right.” “The preacher comes forward, not out of a secret place of meditation…
