so ill be teaching in the fall during my sabbatical at Newman College Introduction to Theology and leading a reading course on theological anthropology. Kinda excited to try my hand at teaching again.
Striking that so many saints are saints because of their love for the poor. We (myself included) often want to sort of imitate their sainthood via deep prayer and outstanding moral rectitude, but skip over this whole "love and devote yourself to the poor" thing.

im always shocked that Jesus doesnt say “Martha” a third time. And then instead of martha he says Marcia
I noticed from preaching that people tend to hear “Martha, Martha” in really different ways. It’s always struck me as one of the warmer and more tender moments in the Gospels from Jesus, but others seem to hear it differently.
