Nintendo is essentially blacklisting Switch 1 games from working without an update on Switch 2 with the system firmware. Best to keep a Switch 1 console if you want all of the games to be accessible offline.
Nintendo is indeed able to force game updates via system firmware. We came across another example. Physical Pikmin 3 can be booted and seemingly played on firmware 20.1.0, but was blocked from working off card with 20.1.1. as we initially reported here: patreon.com/posts/massive-…
