I am absolutely elated beyond belief to share that the International Vladimir Nabokov Society has awarded my PhD dissertation, “A Triptych of Bottomless Light: Repetition, Originality & Transcendence in Nabokov’s Pale Fire,” the 2024 Zoran Kuzmanovich Prize!

if i was driving an uber and someone came in yapping at 6am, my asian ass would also say "hola no hablo ingles," but in a British accent
Something a past supervisor once told me that haunts me to this day was in response to my claim that Pale Fire is the work in which religion features most richly in Nabokov’s work: “Are you sure you’re not saying that because you just understand that work better than the rest?”
Don’t want to subtweet the OP, but it’s “stationery,” not “stationary.” I hope the no one in the English faculty wrote that.

A lot of sad dads are going to get themselves in a tizzy before they realize it’s not that The National.
This week JK Rowling launched an attack on The National, describing us as an 'anti-woman newspaper'. At The National we deal in truth, and will not be cowed by a billionaire trying to control media output to fit her own worldview, writes our editor Laura Webster✍️

Y’all! Food & Wine wrote about Whole Foods’ new annual treat, The Pie, whose packaging was done by my wife. She was even one of the art directors for the Whole Foods 2023 and 2024 Christmas campaigns. Yes, she is responsible for all your Christmas cheer. foodandwine.com/whole-foods-li…
So this is what is really good about Simon Critchley’s Mysticism.
One thing missing from scholarly conventions, which scholarly conventions deliberately avoid, is the subjectivity which would answer the question: “why did I choose to write about this?” I wish more scholars would try to write the unwritable answer of that trauma.
My monks broke last week. Literally unwearable now. Thank God I have my wife otherwise what’s the point anymore.
Nine years ago today, I wore monk straps.

Just because you brought your daughters up to be "distracting" and your sons to be "distracted" doesn't mean that normal, healthy families have brought up such badly behaved kids. A boy who can't do his job because there's a girl near needs therapy, not a path to priesthood.
