Today I reintroduced the Hillsborough Law to Parliament. The Prime Minister promised enacting this legislation would be one of his first acts in office. A year on, he still hasn’t done it. I’m showing him that it’s here and ready to go. It just needs political will.
We're committed to sharing power and ownership - and when it comes to green energy, we mean that literally. Here's 5 ways Community Energy shares power. 🧵
Duplicitous nonsense. Your government has decimated council funding over the last decade. The consequences are poorer & no services. You’ve cut more this year despite record funding and £4.9bn extra. You even take more tax off nurses and teachers. Where has all the money gone?
This week I joined other Edinburgh MSPs to voice urgent opposition to the Labour-led proposals to slash almost all community mental health funding in the capital. Organisations such as Redhall Walled Garden and those within the Thrive Collective are facing an existential threat👇
Ordinary people DO care about climate — as @LesleyHinds & @EdinSolarCoop prove. Edinburgh’s community solar projects are promoting clean energy & building local pride. 3/3
"Community-owned energy is a must-have" says @SarahBoyack. Scotland has huge potential for clean, green, community-led power — now gov must back it. ⚡🌱 2/3
🧵 Community energy isn’t just good for the planet — it’s good for people, places & democracy. The new Power In Our Communities report produced by @CoopParty @LCEF_UK shows how. Here’s what it means for Scotland 👇 1/3 party.coop/community/power

Despite the rain, the @ScottishLabour team showed up in full spirit at the Leith Festival! 🌧️ Great to join @tracygilbert72 and fellow Scottish Labour colleagues in celebrating the vibrant community of Leith. Proud to stand with a team. — Foysol Choudhury MSP #LeithFestival
His Majesty the King has awarded me an MBE. Quite overwhelmed, especially as it’s for doing simply what I love - serving my community and the public. My statement👇
Brilliant to stroll through Hamilton town centre today with @DavyRussell4HLS, the new MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse. We don’t take this victory for granted. Thank you to every single person who voted for @ScottishLabour.
I am delighted that my Members Bill to reform Freedom of Information has been introduced in the Scottish Parliament. I look forward to debating why freedom of information law needs reformed and FOI extended to outsourced public services.
A massive congratulations to our newest MSP, Davy Russell! The road to a new direction for Scotland in 2026 with Anas Sarwar as First Minister begins here.
Community energy gives power back to the British people. We're working with @Ed_Miliband to put energy back the hands of in communities with the Local Power Plan and GB Energy.
We are living through an extraordinary moment – one that future generations will look back on as either the moment we transformed our energy system, or chose not to. Our new report with @LCEF_UK says it clearly: now is the time for community power, in every sense of the word.
We're taking on the politics of division with community-owned clean green energy. Our new report, Power in Our Communities shows us a path towards a net zero transition we can all have a stake in. 🌱🤝🏘️
