"Pregnant men" has been backed up by the power of the state, unlike "kill the Jews". Big difference.
with elite gatekeeping, we get "men can get pregnant" as a scientific fact (and you're an ignorant hateful bigot who should btw lose his job if you disagree) without elite gatekeeping, we get "kill the Jews" in a few short cycles we are doomed
The history of the US relations with UNESCO reminds one of Gary Hart's presidential campaign and the folklore it gave rise to.
While the breakup with UNESCO is welcome, important to stress US not properly a member. When Truman joined in 1946, he got Congress to authorize it. When Biden purported to rejoin after Trump quit, he didn’t bother to get reauthorization from Congress.
How can a "widespread procedure" not be "public", and what does it take to make it public? This is about the nature of knowledge in society.
But now that awareness of these widespread DEI procedures has become public, they’ll conveniently throw admin under the bus and feign innocence. Don’t buy it. Faculty were demanding diversity hires and were eager to do whatever illegalities were required to make it happen.
Time is ripe for judicial reform in Israel. Its opponents are now out of money.
I was just reading Zeev Schiff and Ehud Yaari make a similar point in their book on the First Intifada: Palestinians in the West Bank quite understandably interpreted even normal Israeli bureaucracy as malicious tyranny.
A hypothesis. The US ambassador thinks Israeli treatment of the US Christian tourists is targeted harrassment. Actually it is normal Israeli bureaucratic behavior. This is how they often treat their own citizens and the Jews applying for immigration.
This is the country which once, long time ago, had a revolution over freedom of the press.

it is all relative. Marginalized seers err more "drastically and often".
Political science doesn't understand politics. Economic science doesn't understand economics. Something is wrong with the professions when they err so drastically and often. Find their blindspots, and don't ignore the marginalized seers, even if they're only one-eyed.
A nice tax haven Ireland has there . . .
In my new @WSJ oped, I explain how Ireland’s bill criminalizing trade with Israel will force the many American companies that have offshored operations there to violate federal law.
the "woke excesses" of the 2020's were not "excesses" they were the exact logical outcome of a power-drunk elite who thought their jackbooted foothold on your face was permanent they were certainly not going to stop there
Me: The most intelligent people in history are ex-Communists.
Rightwingers: The fact that the left is scared of research into genetics and intelligence shows it's anti-science. Study: Genetic propensity for higher intelligence linked to left-leaning beliefs. Rightwingers: This study proves we can't trust science. x.com/iointelresearc…
Strictness of enforcement of quotas changed over time. For decades, it was possible to just "demonstrate effort" by interviewing candidates from the favored groups irrespective of qualification, but then hire on merit. In the 2010s, administration started picking specific names.
The paper trail on US universities blatantly discriminating against “oppressor” groups keeps growing, and new documented scandals will keep emerging for years to come. Yet, most pressures to hire “marginalized” faculty did not leave a paper trail. Instructions were communicated…
I tear up on the Fourth of July. America is the greatest country on Earth and the best hope for the collective advancement of humanity. The nation was blessed 250 years ago with a g station of giants whose depth and broadmindedness we should always aspire to.
This video is "the fourth dream of Vera Pavlovna" from Lenin's favorite novel, "What is to be done?" by N. Chernyshevsky (1863).
Zohran Mamdani: "We will slowly buy up the housing on the private market and convert properties into communes"
Will the arc of history bend backwards towards separate men's and women's bathrooms in colleges?
BREAKING: UPenn will formally apologize for allowing Lia Thomas to compete as a woman. The tide is turning!
The Israeli AG has, with the help of the Supreme Court, established herself as the supreme ruler of the country. She can fire the Prime Minister, but he can’t fire her. Nonetheless, the United States should respect Israeli sovereignty and not sanction her. After all,…
MK Nissim Vaturi reached out to US President Donald Trump via letter and asked him to impose sanctions on Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara . jpost.com/israel-news/ar…
"What was the point of WWII, if now our population gets replaced?" "Why win the Cold War if now Russia attacks Ukraine". This is trying to shift responsibility for your generation's failure to the preceding one. They faught their battles and won, we did not fight and lost.
The fall of the Soviet Union was a good thing, on net. I stand by this, and don't care what Scowcroft's heirs have to say. Tens of millions of people are enjoying freedom because of that event, and it happened with almost no bloodshed. @nobodyknows2322
The respectable thing is to explain events by systemic causes, thus "Russian domination desire" that is always there. Whims of rulers are not taken seriously. Yet the current war is Putin's personal thing. And the SU was dissolved at Russian initiative, to a large degree.
The idea that Russian revanchism would somehow be tamed if the USSR did not collapse does not pass the smell test. Russian domination desires would be there, just more powerful. @BRyvkin
