Great, ‘cause that’ll bring down the cost of energy and shopping bills… 🙄
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer plans to win back “authoritarian leaning” voters by increasing Labour’s messaging on crime and controlling immigration Number 10’s strategy team recommended advertising in supermarkets, on buses, and with social media influencers [@timespolitics]

Sir Keir Starmer promised change. In reality, Scots are being short changed.
Labour are increasing your energy bills, after promising to cut them - to pay for a nuclear plant in England.
I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and injury caused by the military attack on the Holy Family Catholic Church in #Gaza. I assure the parish community of my spiritual closeness. I commend the souls of the deceased to the loving mercy of Almighty God, and pray for…
On a day that started with headlines that the cost of living is biting hard - inflation hitting 3.6% - the Government is now going into the evening broadcast round with news that it is purging left-wing MPs for changing its policy on welfare reform. An odd approach. 🤷🏻♂️
Whether it’s exorbitant rent/mortgages, the ever increasing price of the weekly shop or sky high energy bills - the cost of living crisis is crippling family finances. Sir Keir Starmer promised to deliver change last year. Is this what he had in mind?

Children in Gaza are dying as a result of Israel’s actions. The suffering must end. Our NHS stands ready to help treat injured children, and I’ve urged the Prime Minister to support urgent medical evacuations. These children need care now. My article @ScotNational
On becoming Prime Minister, Keir Starmer promised to "end the chaos". Ever get the feeling you've been cheated...?
Really lovely interview with @JohnSwinney in @ScotNational today. From family to music, the First Minister and @theSNP Leader reflects on many things which have changed his life. thenational.scot/news/25290898.…
Question then is, what happens when it comes to consideration of the programme motion.
Worth noting that if the Govt presses ahead with Committee, Report & 3rd Reading next Wednesday (9 July) then Government amendments to the Bill must be tabled by the rise of the House tomorrow (2 July).
Just think - Meg Hillier thought the deal she negotiated at the end of last week was worth settling for? The manner in which Ministers have folded on today’s legislation, and the parliamentary management of it, will be studied by politics students for years to come. A mess.
Sending solidarity to @MaureenBurkeMP today - there’s a fine tradition of East End MPs* defying the whip on a social security vote. 😉 Maureen will come under lots of pressure today so please offer support as she seeks to stand up for 150k vulnerable folk. *+ @ChrisStephens!
BREAKING: A report by Big Issue shows that, under the SNP, 21,000 fewer kids are living in poverty compared to 2017 - a 12% decrease. Compare that to England & Wales - 320,000 more kids in poverty - a 15% increase. We’re standing up for Scotland’s children.
Labour backs the same Westminster choices that are costing you. This isn’t just politics. It’s your wallet. Independence is the only way to end Westminster failure permanently.
While child poverty is rising in the UK, in Scotland it fell by 12% since 2017. We must go even further. To give every child the best start in life, we’re taking real action: ✅ Delivering the Scottish Child Payment ✅ Expanding free school meals ✅ Ending the two-child cap
Still suspect the Government will pull its Welfare Reform Bill vote (does it *really* want to spend another 6 days of news cycles on this?) But just for reference, the last time a Government lost a vote on Second Reading was 1986 - Margaret Thatcher’s Shops Bill… 🤓
Around 300,000 disabled and sick Scots to 'lose £500' under Labour welfare cuts dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/…
1. They’ll pull the Bill. It won’t even go to a vote. 2. It’ll trigger a reshuffle.
NEW: Keir Starmer told his cabinet this morning he'll press ahead with welfare reform plans - despite rebellion of over 100 MPs. PM said plan to fix what is broken in Britain requires "hard, honest choices" - & that current welfare system is failing people. He said millions of…
🥾 Lots more ground covered tonight, out leafleting in Carntyne. Thanks for all the chats along the way! #voteSNP #activeSNP

The two-child cap has punished families for too long. We asked the UK Government to scrap it. They didn’t. So we are. From 2 March 2026, the Two Child Limit Payment will begin in Scotland – delivered faster than any action of its kind before.
