I can hear Anita Archer saying some of these exact words! I spent many days with Anita learning about explicit instruction and wrote several modules for TX educators. Explicit instruction can be extremely engaging and motivating for students - if done well!
Explicit instruction (modeling in small steps, checking for understanding, giving feedback, gradually fading supports) should be the core of what teachers train on, so... I helped put together a conference about it!

The Anxious Generation book - wow!! The findings have me asking myself so many questions. This might be an insightful book study for schools/districts. How much time are students required to use technology?
