"A budget that’s truly for immigrants and working people does not look like Mayor Bowser’s budget, which takes away health care from individuals who are already struggling to survive." @32BJSEIU's Jaime Contreras: 51st.news/opinion-the-dc…

America’s unions are hitting the road! While politicians in Washington make chaos for working people, we’re fighting for workers. The It’s Better In a Union—Freedom, Fairness and Security bus tour will build worker power nationwide and listen to the real needs of working people.
In solidarity with @NonprofitUnion and @IFPTE we call on management at @CarnegieEndow to voluntarily recognize the union of workers unionizing with @carnegieworkers.
RECOGNIZE NOW! More than a month since we went public, Carnegie management has continued to drag their feet, and we still have no answer about whether they will do the right thing and voluntarily recognize us. @CarnegieEndow @danbbaer @AlisonMarkovitz @NonprofitUnion @IFPTE

Today, we protected I-82 & the fair wages of tipped workers, upholding the will of 74% of DC voters. I'm grateful to my colleagues for rejecting a repeal that would ignore the realities workers face while trying to live & work in one of the most expensive cities in the country.
Today, a majority of the D.C. Council voted against repealing Initiative 82! Thank you @CMLewisGeorgeW4 for your leadership, and @charlesallen, @ZacharyforWard5, @BrianneKNadeau, @CMFrumin, @chenderson, and @RobertWhite_DC for preventing a wage cut for tipped workers.
Federal workers are the backbone of making this nation great. On Wednesday, July 16th hear their stories and learn how DOGE mayhem continues to cripple our government. linktr.ee/FedsSpeakOut
When asked why he's overturning the will of DC voters and repealing I-82 in his budget, @ChmnMendelson claims he'd rather listen to impacted workers over voters. But more restaurant workers testified in favor of I-82 than against during the budget hearing!
Pro I-82 workers VASTLY OUTNUMBERED the anti I-82 crowd this week at the DC Council hearing on the mayor's repeal. 36 to 6. We shouldn't be surprised given nearly 75% of DC voters passed I-82. Workers demand that their Council reject any proposal to cut or freeze their wages.
The number of times and ways that employers cheat workers of their deserved wages is outrageous. Thank you @DCAttorneyGen for pursuing this and other wage cases to keep our workers whole.
WORKER WIN: Over 300 hotel housekeepers in DC will receive $215,000 after their companies failed to pay proper overtime pay. The companies will also pay penalties and correct their practices. Workers who put in long hours week after week will get the overtime wages they earned.
