So thankful for the active obedience of Christ. No hope without it. // Presbyterian (PCA)
On a different note, after another week of @RUFnational training surrounded by hundreds of ministers, staff, and interns committed to reaching students for Christ and equipping them to serve the church, I am feeling bullish on the PCA.
Contra the folks who say, "Why bother a church that just has a different style of worship than you, in your opinion, prefer?" It really does matter. I am not a proponent of a capella only, but there is a reason many of our forefathers held that position.
A corporate worship service featuring performers on stage and a "rock concert vibe" greatly detracts from the corporate singing of the congregation which is a key distinctive of Reformed worship.
I'm a simple guy. Give me a church that preaches meaty, expositional sermons; sings the Psalms; and has lots of children in the services--and my heart is full.
It speaks very highly of a church to have as based of a hymn lineup as this

How in the world is anything about this "creepy?"
Summer fun awaits you at Camp @AmReformer! It’s got the creepy vibe you’ve come to expect from AmRef: Nicotine! Bros in the woods! Host-approved attendance! A super-secret location! Bonus: YOU WILL BE SCREENED! (They forgot: “We are not a cult.”) Link: lu.ma/r5uq0h44
Hey @grok who was the most famous person to visit my profile? doesn't need to be a mutual, don't tag them, just say who it was.
I have a hard time understanding being flippant towards switching denominations, and trashing your old one. I just moved back to where the Baptist church I became a Christian is, and I have felt *heartbroken* that I need to go somewhere else (though I must) --they're my family.
Proudly. I love Anglicans, but few things get under my nerves more than the snark that some people have for Baptists.
Unsurprising: PCA dude sides with baptists over Anglicans
as someone who left one ecclesial tradition for another years ago—after being very invested but coming to different convictions that no longer allowed me to remain where I was—I have sympathy for those who make similar moves it is painful & costly should not be done flippantly
Our goal is not a showcase. Our goal is connecting members by sharing the locations of all our congregations, and praising God for His varied provision for His body. This congregation used to be in a storefront. Praise God for this building for this flock.
The fruits of schism - things like this end up being in your list of showcase churches cuz it's all ya got
What's the difference between this and something an Orthobro would say?

I don't agree with Dave Ramsey's oversimplified way of thinking, but... I'm watching Charlie Kirk talk about how so much of Gen Z is hooked on "buy now, pay later" debt, and frankly, I think those who were raised with the influence of Dave Ramsey probably have a huge advantage.
"spirituality of the church" refers to the instituted church, not the people of God generally.
I've found this seems to largely split along the lines of older, established churches vs. newer, church plants. Would y'all agree?
Forgive the brief indulgence of inside (PCA) baseball, but I’d bet good money that many of those whining loudest about the RPW & worship style of other PCA congregations also attend churches that serve grape juice w/the Lord’s Supper. You may continue your pearl-clutching now.
Day 3 of my first RUF Staff Training: RUF assumes that Christ ordinarily saves sinners and sanctifies saints through the institution of the church. Our job on campus is not to replace the church but to connect students back to it. We have our marching orders!

All baptisms should take place on the Lord's Day with the gathered people of God in corporate worship as they witness and participate in the administration of the sacrament.
