On Friday 21 July 1972, 19 Provisional IRA bombs exploded across Belfast in little over an hour on a warm afternoon. Nine people were killed and 130 others were seriously injured in what became known as Bloody Friday, one of the most horrific days in the history of Troubles. As…
🧵Britain isn’t a Christian nation anymore. Why? Because Britons stopped being Christians. Been thinking a lot about this excellent speech this week. It’s not immigration or Islam that emptied our Churches. It’s indifference. Let’s talk about it. 👇⛪️
I gave a speech today in an empty chamber. It’s about the need for a Christian restoration.

Today we remember P.C Peter Guthrie QPM (Gallantry) who was shot and murdered in 1972 whilst attending a burglary at a gun shop in Coventry. We erected our memorial to him in 2022 where we laid flowers this morning #HonouringThoseWhoServe #PoliceFamily #PoliceMemorials @WMPolice

Latest | A senior Protestant church leader has condemned an effigy of a migrant boat on top of a loyalist bonfire in Co Tyrone as “racist, threatening and offensive”. Meanwhile Jamie Bryson has insisted it is an “act of artistic political protest”. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-…
Utterly disgraceful and should be condemned by all. As stated it is also ‘stunningly stupid’.
What a truly grotesque image: burning the effigies of migrants - who the organisers ensured all had brown skin. Even from the perspective of the loyalists involved, this is stunningly stupid: it might be a migrant's vote that swings a border poll. (Photo by the great @Kscott_94)
This image is sickening, deplorable and entirely out of step with what is supposed to be a cultural celebration. I condemn it without reservation and urge those responsible to remove it forthwith.
Unsurprising decision by the PPS. The system does not treat child abuse images seriously enough and it also does not reflect the abuse of a position of trust properly. Leadership required to fix the system. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
The travesty of Legacy is that it’s being misused to rewrite the historical narrative. The context of NI 1968-2000 was that only the illegal terrorist organisations waged a war, killing murdering and maiming. There never was and never could be justification for terrorism.
In Northern Ireland, our veterans were held to the highest standard of law. The IRA were not. They tortured and killed men, women, and children alike. Labour’s plan to scrap the Legacy Act betrays our veterans. My question on this at today's PMQs.
So encouraging to read this strong proactive & professional statement from the Chief Constable. Let’s hope that community leaders listen & offenders are dealt with expeditiously. psni.police.uk/latest-news/ch…

The diligent care Norman Tebbit provided to his wife Margaret who was paralysed by the Brighton Bomb was in stark contrast to the evil cowardice of the bomber Patrick Magee. He said his initial emotion after the explosion was one of “relief” that his murderous bomb had detonated.
