For the Legislature to pass the Fair Map Acts in 2019 to prevent mid-decade redistricting at the local level to prevent political manipulation and then to try this at the state and federal level would be the hypocritical.
Any attempt to undermine the nonpartisan California Redistricting Commission will be strongly opposed in the courts and at the ballot box.

California's congressional maps are drawn by an independent redistricting commission that was enshrined in the state's constitution by voters in a 2010 proposition that passed by over 20%, so any changes to this will require first going to voters to abolish the commission.
