To be absolutely clear. Even now, Rachel Reeves is not undertaking investment or expanding the welfare state not because she can’t. But because she doesn’t want to. Her fiscal rules and the debt fearmongering is imaginary. She simply won’t.
When Norway brought in wealth tax, less than 0.1% of those impacted left. By rejecting calls for a wealth tax, Rachel Reeves is sending a clear message that she is more than happy to push working class people into poverty if it means keeping Labour's super rich donors happy.
🚨 NEW: Rachel Reeves is set to reject calls for a wealth tax over fears it wouldn’t raise any money as wealthy people would simply leave the UK [@thetimes]
This is mealy-mouthed and refuses to call it what it is: racism. It doesn’t even have the decency to name me, let alone offer a direct apology. Supine journalism from The Observer, but sadly that’s what we’ve come to expect from the mainstream media.
Editor's note on the removal of the SAF cartoon from our 20 July edition: We are genuinely sorry for causing offence, and we are taking the cartoon down. bit.ly/46g5b7P
Nick Tyrone admits he wants a Reform government with Nigel Farage as PM.
I can confirm this is true. I mean, I’d rather have literally anyone in Britain run the country than those two clowns, so it’s not much of a statement.
The @CommonsForeign has spent the last 9 months on this vital report, expertly led by @EmilyThornberry. It recommends the UK "should now recognise the state of Palestine while there’s still a state to recognise". Credit also to @Abtisam_Mohamed for standing firm on this issue.
We have published our report on the Israel-Palestine conflict. We have spent the last nine months taking evidence on the conflict. Today, we are calling on the Government to act more boldly and bravely to deliver a two-state solution. Read the report ⬇️ publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5901/cmse…
Cannot emphasise how bad this is. Our costs for electrification are dire entirely because we only do it in boom and bust bursts. If you have to train a workforce of 1000s every time you want to do a project it’s always going to lead to cost blowouts as they start from scratch!
Midland Main Line electrification teams to be stood down this year as project is paused railmagazine.com/news/midland-m…
Just a typical Thursday teaching @MayorEastMids how to electrify a railway. With support from @SimonJWSkinner. Also dive into passenger benefits from electrification & the super midlands supply chain.
“There’s a danger of mass starvation” like a danger of high winds, a danger of flooding. Uncontrollable dangers that just arrive. Now it’s mass starvation. Landing on people like an unforeseen snowstorm. Starvation: a story of a disaster without cause.
Damning statement from civil society organisations, trade unions, and grassroots groups: No confidence in the Cunliffe Review. Our water system needs to be publicly owned. Tweaks to a system that treats water as a profit machine won't cut it. compassonline.org.uk/statement-of-n…
Recognise Palestine. Stop arming Israel. Stop talking bribes from Zionists. Stop passing information to Israel. Uphold International Law. Call it genocide (because it is). Enforce the ICC warrants. Sanction the apartheid, occupying state. Ban Israeli goods. #C4News
The UK must immediately recognise Palestinian statehood. There can be no two state solution if there is no viable state left to call Palestine.
Today - along with other rebels - I got an email from Party Authorities telling me I voted in Parliament against the Govts welfare reforms 6 times in one day. I don't repent my votes. I was elected on a pledge to stand by working class electors and above all the poorest.
Been watching the By Donkeys crew get jokerfied over the last two years, that this softly softly protest has got them arrested says everything about the proscription and its ramifications. But good on them, genuinely.
🚨 RIGHT NOW opposite Labour Party HQ in London. We’ve turned their street into Jabaliya camp in Gaza. A genocide is happening, but the Labour government is supplying weapons, intelligence and diplomatic cover to the perpetrator. Protesting this is not terrorism.
Despite all the noise about student loans, Mr Streeting didn’t seriously raise it once in the negotiating room. Instead, he chose to brief the media. He could prevent these strikes today by paying doctors £22.67/hr. share.google/Lich7R7i6mwowq…
I'm pleased a statutory inquiry into Orgreave has finally been announced. This is long overdue. Solidarity with the miners, campaigners and trade unionists whose relentless determination made this possible.✊ theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
Everyone should have safe, reliable water. But we won’t hold back reactionary politics with half-measures.
Istanbul Express may be a lousy film, but love the opening credits. Here’s the London to Kuşadasi plan in all its glory, a 5,000 mile round trip by train, ferry and the occasional taxi. Will I make it? Tune in next week!

For an awful lot of politicians and pundits, the story about fixing our railways starts and stops with one word: NATIONALISATION. But this slogan alone is doomed to fail us all. Watch me explain why for @GreensOrganise: #NotJustNationalisation
