Today, Birmingham Labour has resolved to work with our partners across the West Midlands to make sure that our Pension Funds, and all other funds, are invested ethically. 📝 Our letter in full.

What the government can’t afford: ❌Lifting children out of poverty ❌Disability benefits ❌Compensation for WASPI women ❌Winter fuel allowance What the government can afford: an extra £13.4 billion on the military. Never any money for the poor. Always enough money for war.
Great speaking at a packed out Stop the War ‘Free Palestine Defend the Right to Protest’ meeting in Birmingham. I’m told the biggest anti-war meeting here for a long time. #FreePalestine
Your plans are sickening. A Labour govt consigning some of the poorest people in the world to become even poorer while also cutting welfare at home, in order to develop more arms to facilitate more wars, is grotesque. #WelfareNotWarfare
It is my first duty as Prime Minister to keep this country safe. That is why we are increasing defence spending to 2.5% of GDP from April 2027. In an ever more dangerous world, it’s vital that we protect British people at home.
Great @BrumStWC meeting on the right to protest, happening now. What a great panel @SalmaYaqoob @ChrisNineham @FranHeathcote & others We will not be intimidated. We have the right to protest against war, against genocide, against inequality, against racism, against climate…
A new phase of politics, another Suez moment for Europe. More wars and arms spending means more attacks on the working class here and abroad. The anti-war movement has never been more vital. stopwar.org.uk/article/trumps…
That international crisis in full: Trump to the European leaders: you are on your own and you’ll have to pay for it! European leaders: no problem your Orangeness! We’ll make ordinary people pay! Far right: prepares to advance.
For years I was derided for pointing out that the Ukraine war was a cynical US proxy war, in which Washington DC was using Ukraine as a battering ram against Russia. Now this is obviously true, Europe is full of blowhards who want to keep that war going. But why?
There’s something deeply unsettling about very comfortable middle-aged middle class centrists in the Home Counties and Zone 2 London all eagerly logging on to demand that young working-class British men be are sent to risk their lives in Ukraine. It’s honestly disgusting.
Throwing away lives to act tough in parliament with your subsidized restaurant and bar. From the party that helped triple student fees.
In principle there should be a vote in Parliament when troops are deployed. I’m confident all sides of the House are likely to agree with the Prime Minister apart from those Trump bootlickers in Reform.
Now here’s a mystery: if you say from the river to the sea they can lock you up, you or me. but if you say from the sea to the river you can be the Israeli prime minister.
This is a small group of our amazing stewards today. As ever, thanks so much to everyone who volunteers to keep our demos running smoothly and safely, you’re brilliant and we couldn’t do this without you. Enough of the Oscars… #FreePalestine !
Struggling to keep warm, it's ok. We have cash to satisfy Trump. If you can't afford to eat, don't worry we will buy planes to make sure No One can invade to occupy your foodbank. UK politics putting the interests of American defence industry first. #BlameMigrantsNotPoliticians
Really excited about this! Defend Your Right To Protest! @STWuk @pcs_union @BirminghamTUC @nijjormanush @andrewfeinstein @ChrisNineham
