Brent has joined forces with 40 UK councils, mayors, and organisations, calling for urgent gambling reform. With more and more betting shops taking over our high streets, the time is now to put power back in the hands of local leaders and their communities. #BeatTheBookies

♻️🚨 Fly-tipping fines have more than doubled in Brent, and #CommunitySkip days are making it easier than ever to keep the borough clean and tidy. Great to see progress on what matters most to you 👇 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/….
One week to go to Wembley Jobs Fair 2025! #LabourForJobs
👨🏭 Wembley Jobs Fair is returning to Brent this month! 🌹 Backed by Labour’s plan to get Britain working, we’re helping Brent residents access jobs, apprenticeships, and skills at the heart of our community. eventbrite.co.uk/e/brent-works-… #LabourForJobs
Aim to Permit is a clause in the Gambling Act 2005 that ties the hands of councils and helps betting shops cluster on our high streets. I want the law changed. I sat down with @MAsgharButt (Leader of Brent) and @MiliKPatel (Deputy) to explain what it is and why it matters.
Everyone deserves to feel safe where they live. 👮 We're working with residents and our local Police teams to get weapons off the streets, clamp down on gangs, and provide pathways for Brent's young people away from crime. Here's how 👇📰 kilburntimes.co.uk/news/25314834.…

Over 40 councils and mayors - including @AndyBurnhamGM and @andrewpakes_' council in Peterborough - have now joined Brent's campaign calling for urgent gambling reform. 🎰Councils and communities need the powers to say no to new adult gaming centres taking over our high streets.
The rapid uncontrolled growth of adult gaming centres says a lot about the decline of our high streets. We need power to take back control and to update gambling rules. Glad to be working alongside great campaigners to fix this problem. 👉 theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
🚨 @BarnetLabour joins Brent's call to stop the spread of high street gambling casinos Adult Gaming Centres and harmful slot machines are doing untold damage to communities up and down the country. 🎰 Barnet Council passed a motion this week that agrees - it's time for change.

"We can stop a fish and chip shop opening next to a school, but not an Adult Gaming Centre next to a homeless shelter." Our Harlesden councillors spoke to the @GR_APPG about the powers councils and communities need to have a say over their high streets 👇 #StopTheSpread

On this day in 2005, 52 lives were taken in the 7/7 bombings. We remember them and the courage shown by Londoners. The first responders, transport workers, neighbours and strangers. In the face of hate, our city stood strong.
7/7 time moves on, but we still carry the scars of that painful day, we will remember them🧡 For those who want to divide us, have us live in chaos & hate, we must never stop fighting back, we must unite and use our collective power to live in peace and love. We are the light
Today we remember the lives lost and the hundreds injured in the 7 July 2005 London attacks. Twenty years on, we honour them, stand with survivors, and choose unity over hatred. Their legacy reminds us: darkness will never overcome our shared humanity.
Today, we mark 20 years since the horrendous 7 July terror attacks shook our city.
Twenty years on from the 7/7 attacks, we remember all those whose lives were lost and those whose lives were changed forever. We honour the bravery of the first responders, and the strength of the survivors. Those who try to divide us will always fail.
Great to hear from the TfL Commissioner at Transport Plenary at City Hall today that there is sufficient funding from the Government's multi year funding settlement deal for London to deliver a new Bakerloo Line fleet towards the end of the decade.
It's time to take back control of our high streets. Join us - sign the petition 👇🏾 dawnbutler.org.uk/gambling_refor…
Why are there so many Adult Gaming Centres in deprived areas?
