In advance of the First Ministers' meeting tomorrow, @mark_lawson2 and myself are in the Globe today making the case for the Premiers to prioritize ending labour mobility barriers for Canadian workers to help build one national economy: theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
As Premiers meet in the shadow of a trade war, even if a deal is reached with the United States, the uncertainty and unpredictability of the President require us to continue to work to build one national economy. After commitments to major nation-building projects, the next…
Opinion: The premiers’ top priority should be unlocking labour mobility for Canadian workers theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
A thoughtful read on the work still to be finished to build a truly integrated Canadian labour market by Mark Lawson and @BenWoodfinden As we head in to this week’s Council of the Fed meetings, don’t forget what the provinces still have to do #cdnpoli theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
For everyone yesterday who said that Poilievre was taking an extreme position by calling out the proposed sentence lengths for Lich and Baber, here's the take from the lawyer who organized the lawsuit against the convoy and has been a vocal Conservative critic. Hardly extreme:
Lich and Barber sentencing will take place this week. There’s no question it was serious, and they have spent three years showing the opposite of remorse for what they did to the people of Ottawa, but an 8 year sentence is ridiculous. IMO no custody for Lich; 6 months for Barber.
Yes. Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking. Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.
This is a phenomenal read on the bizarre ways contemporary obsessions with "productivity" both isn't making us more productive, but also ruins our ability to enjoy leisure because we have an almost secularized protestant work ethic that has become a lack of work guilt
i wrote about the collective obsession with productivity and what it means for our leisure and our labour. link in bio:
I am deeply concerned, angry and frustrated with the findings of a recent report on antisemitism in Ontario schools. Schools must be a safe place for every student to learn in a respectful and supportive environment. I expect school boards across the province to focus on…

Finally had a chance to visit The Well in Toronto and it really is a great example of good urbanism like others have said. Very walkable and good mixed use, pleasant mid-century modern vibes, and all year round use possible. More of this please.

George Grant would see resurgent 'elbows up' nationalism as a hollow and banal progressivism unable to provide us with a distinct identity, leaving us doomed to disappear in the face of America’s relentlessly progressive technological civilization: thehub.ca/2025/07/12/ben…

A few years old now, but resharing for everyone. The best thing i've ever read about Canadian politics by @1TrueCuencoism: americanaffairsjournal.org/2022/05/the-ca…
An important read from @FredDeLorey. Carney is currently leaving a massive amount of ideological space for an NDP revival, but the last election was financially devastating for the party, which may thwart any revival. Significant implications for other parties too.

So true Premier Eby. You know what would help? New pipelines to the west coast, through your province, so we can get our energy exports to more markets other than the US. You should commit to this if you want action to match your rhetoric.
This letter is flailing and factually incorrect. Other F words come to mind. Just one more reminder of why Canadians need to come together, to grow our economy and stand strong. British Columbians are leading the way on that work.
