I agree. Intervenes should still appear in person if they wish. However, I think the SCC should allow fewer interveners and also decide that only some can make oral arguments (virtual or in person).
Zoom should be an option, but not mandatory for interveners in the Supreme Court of Canada: theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
Extending fare capping to Presto users is a good move. It rewards frequent riders and makes transit simpler. But we need a bigger conversation about convenience, frequency and reliability. Riders need service they can count on and we all have a stake in reducing congestion.

Lich and Barber sentencing will take place this week. There’s no question it was serious, and they have spent three years showing the opposite of remorse for what they did to the people of Ottawa, but an 8 year sentence is ridiculous. IMO no custody for Lich; 6 months for Barber.
AFP warning its Gaza reporters are at risk of literally starving to death - having risked their lives for so long to tell the story that Israel prevents the international media from reaching.
AFP Journalists’ Association on reporters in Gaza: ‘Since AFP was founded in August 1944, we have lost journalists in conflicts, we have had wounded and prisoners in our ranks, but none of us can remember seeing a colleague die of hunger. We refuse to see them die’
Joint statement by Canada and 25 other countries: Israel is deliberately causing hunger and must stop now. “We condemn the drip feeding of aid and the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, seeking to meet their most basic needs of water and food.“
The suffering of civilians in Gaza is horrific. Together with 25 other partners, Canada‘s message is clear: the war in Gaza must end now. We call for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages and a full resumption of humanitarian aid, including food. Please see our…
Another day, another war crime by Israel and the IDF.
It's a war crime to gratuitously destroy civilian infrastructure, yet "Israel has demolished thousands of buildings across Gaza since it withdrew from a ceasefire with Hamas in March, with entire towns and suburbs...levelled in the past few weeks." bbc.co.uk/news/resources…
Congratulations Brenda. We are so proud of you. Keep up the great work.
Brenda Reynolds is the recipient of the Nelson Mandela Award, the first Canadian, and the first indigenous person to be so recognized. Very proud to be joining her at the UN General Assembly today.
Probably one of the most prophetic paragraphs of the twentieth century - from Neil Postman's Amusing Ourselves to Death (1985)
Congratulations CSIS! You've been around for 41 years! For nearly half that time, you've dragged out the Court case with our client #Abdelrazik, defending your complicity in his arbitrary detention and torture in Sudan. Your commitment to human rights inspires us all!
🎉 Happy Birthday, CSIS! 🎂 Since July 16, 1984, CSIS has been on the frontline of national security. Here's to many more years of protecting Canada. #CSISBirthday #CanadaStrong
This is a huge win for the labour movement in Canada.

UN chief António Guterres renewed calls for an immediate Gaza ceasefire, warning the crisis has reached “horrific proportions” with death and destruction unlike “any in recent times.”
The Government of Canada has a responsibility to provide all the support necessary to the Vaccine Injury Support Program. Leaving people disabled and waiting for years is unconscionable and wrong. The story of Kayla Pollock is shameful.

Trump's sanction of the UN rapporteur for the Israeli-occupied territory is a "sign of guilt." He wouldn't tryi to silence her if he weren't so afraid of the truth she utters. And Trump is aiding and abetting Israel's genocide by arming and funding it. euronews.com/2025/07/11/un-…
Violent arrests by ICE on California farms have resulted in the death of one farm worker and detention of several US citizens. Land of the free is becoming a brutal dictatorship before our eyes.
It's a #PrimeDay indeed! Big win as the B.C. Labour Board certifies Unifor at Amazon’s Delta facility after ruling the company interfered in the union drive. “Workers slayed the giant,” said @Lanampayne. Time to bargain a first contract. #canlab unifor.org/news/all-news/…
Protesters in Brazil burned an effigy of Donald Trump as they gathered to condemn 50% US tariffs announced for Brazilian goods, which Trump has linked to the coup trial of his political ally ex-President Jair Bolsonaro.
We’re appalled by the reported killing in Gaza today of children and women waiting in line for nutritional supplies provided by UNICEF’s partner organization, Project HOPE. The killing of families trying to access life-saving aid is unconscionable.👇 unicef.org/press-releases…
