We knew this day could come but here we are. The 2026 proposed @NOAA budget shutters all world-class federally funded meteorological, oceanographic, and climate labs in America. Included is @HRD_AOML_NOAA, a fixture for over 50 years in Miami. Hundreds of top scientists tossed.
When a large employer pays so little that their full time employees qualify for Medicaid , (or any public assistance ) we the taxpayers are effectively subsidizing that big company. That’s wrong
The best way to reduce the cost of Medicaid is to name and shame big employers that pay their full time employees so little, they qualify for Medicaid
I genuinely don’t understand how the politics of red states are more progressive on housing issues than blue states. Explain to me like I’m 5.
BOOM! The North Carolina State House just unanimously (107 to 0) passed a ban on parking minimums in new developments statewide. This is powerful and bipartisan pro-housing reform that will make it easier to expand multifamily housing. Great work. ncleg.gov/BillLookUp/202…

If you tell a young person now that their goat is washed, they will fall into a deep despair. But if you told a 13th century serf that their goat is washed, they would experience such gratitude as to be almost overjoyed. This is how far we have fallen.
A reminder that small acts of kindness and care are maybe the most important way to make a difference in someone’s life
Farewell, Saint. Earlier this morning, our beloved Fr. Al Bischoff, SJ, passed away peacefully at age 98. “Father B” made a profound impact on this community. His deep care for each student, commitment to the Jesuit Catholic tradition and love for Xavier will never be forgotten.
A gentle reminder that there are 12 national zoning codes in Japan and almost all are mixed use.
The Republican tax plan gives a $4,000 higher standard deduction for those over 65! Why on earth would you do this? We’re already bankrupting the country for the sake of old people, they don’t need any more advantages.
I find this 100% believable. We have two toddlers. Our third child is on the way. Federal regulations mean that we are *required* to buy a bigger car than our CR-V if we want our family to legally ride together in the same car. I have 0 idea how that’s supposed to work if…
Mandatory car safety seats prevented 140 births for every life they saved. Safetyism sucks the life from our culture, figuratively and literally.
It's crazy how almost every zoning law is not only bad, but backwards. We shouldn't have setbacks, we should have alignments. We shouldn't have minimum lot sizes, we should have maximum lot sizes. We shouldn't have bedroom maximums, we should have bedroom minimums. Etc., etc.
Wonder what Austin is doing differently than other cities, guess we'll never know
The American empire had the most prestigious university system in the world. Infinite cultural capital flowed from that. Everyone on the planet wanted to study here. What did we do? We blew it up because Israel ordered us to. Has anything like this ever happened in history?
The Internal Revenue Service is making plans to rescind the tax-exempt status of Harvard University Really big scoop from @evanperez @alaynatreene cnn.com/2025/04/16/pol…
If you are not viewing Jackie Robinson "through the prism of race", you're erasing significance from his story. Same with the Tuskegee Airmen. Same with the 100th Infantry Battalion and 442nd RCT. Jackie Robinson's #42 isn't retired across baseball because he was a very good 2B.
The @DeptofDefense sent ESPN an updated statement from Pentagon press secretary John Ullyot on the removal of the story on its website about Jackie Robinson's military service. (The story remains deleted.)
We used to build houses where people want to live. Now people want to live where we build houses.
Blue states should be asking themselves what policies they can change to be on this list in the future.
It really sucks that our biggest cities are led by a do-nothing (Bass), a despised flop (Johnson) and a corrupt ‘centrist’ turned maga water carrier (Adams) We need a new generation of center-left blue city mayors who have their shit together: transit, cheap housing, less crime
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s favorability falls to 7%, with 80% unfavorable, poll finds — POLITICO
It’s really cool to be in charge of the military that notoriously won the biggest war in human history by having better logistics and bureaucracy than the other side and say “none of that shit matters anymore”
Strength equals readiness. Kicked off the day with PT alongside the warriors of 1/10 SFG. No bureacracy—just sharp minds, strong bodies, and a mission-first mindset.
Kind of comical that the world’s richest man could choose to end world hunger on his own but is instead using his power to shut down the world’s biggest food aid program. Now that’s evil
Congestion Pricing is creating tremendous benefits. Subway Ridership: ⬆️ 13% Bus Ridership: ⬆️ 6% (⬆️ 21% weekends) Transit Crime: 🔻36% Fatal Car Crashes: 🔻44% Trip Times: 🔻10-30%
Here's to 112 years of not fitting the neighborhood character.
It’s obvious how stupid some of the anti housing arguments are when you see them deployed in any other context.
