And since most of our records are now digital, much of our present history will be lost. 38% of webpages from 2013 are no longer accessible. And most people have facebook/instagram accounts instead of photo albums. Good luck accessing those photos in 100 years.
Fun fact. Modern humans first appeared about 250,000 years ago, but record keeping didn't began until about 6,000 years ago. That means, about 97% of human history is lost forever. [✏️ @waitbutwhy]
For a country that prides itself on freedom, America certainly isn't free to build places like these.

Less than a day after announcing the new Amtrak service between New Orleans and Mobile, trains already started selling out. It's almost as if people want more transportation choices 😳
One thing I wish we could take from Mexico City are their camellóns - interior trails within the median of streets
If you have 3 loyal friends, the whole world can turn against you and you will survive.
Charisma is the ability to project confidence + love at the same time. Charismatic people don’t need to be around you but choose to be around you.
define Charisma, taste, or gut feeling sorts?
Several friends who have lived in the suburbs all their lives mentioned they wanted to move to more walkable neighborhoods. Yes, they used the word, "walkable". People are tired of spending so much time and money on cars. They want mobility options. I think America's…

Excellent book about the history of cities and urban design.

If you think this is "communism", maybe you don't know what communism is.

It's bizarre to think a person who adores walkable neighborhoods must hate cars.
There's substantial research showing the benefits of sun exposure and being outdoors. That's another reason why we should encourage walkability and parks in our cities.

I'm not a fan but he has a point.
I really think local governments, in particular, should try to focus on the fundamentals of delivering necessary public services rather than trying to think up new problems to take on. washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/07…
For the 1st time since the mid-20th c, a major urban US transit network is going to be largely destroyed. Philadelphia’s SEPTA must cut 45% of service, NEXT MONTH. 45% is not “waste fraud and abuse.” It’s “would you like to keep your heart or your lungs?” Link in 1st reply.
We need an urbanist-ruralist coalition
It really wrecks some people’s brains to learn I’m pro urbanism largely ~because~ I’m pro rural & agricultural areas remaining such. They’re so excited to let me know I’m a clueless urbanite that doesn’t know where food comes from or what freedom looks like in my crime infested…
Urbanists and Ruralists have more in common than you realize.
