As a member of the Bar, I believe removing the right to a jury trial is a reckless shortcut. It’s not reform. In my opinion, it’s retreat, as the Criminal Bar Association says. Justice demands choice: jury or judge. Invest in our courts, don’t dismantle their foundations.

Jury trials are a cornerstone of our justice system. Undermining them risks eroding public trust. If Labour goes ahead with this, it’ll be yet another blow to their credibility!
