Being Perceived Despiser
@AvoidPerception
Please stop perceiving me.
Do other church bodies tolerate/encourage divorce as frequently and as easily as the LCMS does?
You are an LCMS pastor. A man whose wife is excommunicated for divorcing him without cause asks for your help in seeking reconciliation because you have been communing her. Do you: A) tell the woman to go home and be reconciled B) help them reconcile C) make her your DCE
“Can an Ethiopian change the color of his skin? Can a leopard change its spots? Just as little can you, who are disciples of evil, do good.” Here is TX DP Michael Newman acknowledging that the practice of open communion is knowingly and willingly tolerated in the LCMS.
That’s an awfully severe accusation to make when you have previously acknowledged to me that you are aware of the tolerance of open communion in the synod and have been informed by me about the TX District placing an excommunicated woman into a teaching position in the Church.
I notice you have no doubt about open communion. DP Newman and VP Wendorf of TX groomed a woman as a DCE while she was under discipline at her congregation for seeking an unjust divorce, then issued her a call after she was excommunicated for obtaining such a divorce.
Two images: The now sainted John Neunaber (LCMS teacher) at the local Y asking me: “And what are they going to sing on their deathbeds: ‘Shine, Jesus, Shine?’” Second, sitting in Dr. Lee Maxwell’s livingroom shortly before he died singing: “Lord, Thee I Love.” He sang every word.
Most women have no problems obeying a boss for a paycheck but find it detestable to obey their husband who loves them and committed his life to them.
Don’t worry, I’m sure they’re being very careful to examine everyone in attendance before offering them this medicine without a prescription.
Alright, let’s give 20,000+ LCMS Lutherans the medicine of immortality!
Horseshoe theory strikes again, LCMS adiaphora-ites hardest hit. Yes, it is more about confessional agreement than worship style. This is what we have been saying the whole time.
If a church refuses to worship according to our theological confession, I would argue that is less of a worship style issue and more of a confessional agreement issue...
Papists condemn Protestants for trying to usurp God’s rule over the womb by using technological interventions instead of trying to usurp God’s rule over the womb by using “natural family planning.”
Protestantism’s embracing of contraception (a mortal sin) caused this.
"You know what will really keep kids bound to the church? Cringe events and crappy music. They will never leave if we give them that."
My original tweet stated a simple, undeniable truth: withholding sex from your husband is a violation of your marriage vow. Nowhere did I reference “grape” yet you intentionally distorted my words to push your own agenda. This is a textbook example of how wives in marriage…
Why are these women advocating for marital rape 🤷♂️
This attitude is common, but horribly naive at best, maliciously subversive at worst. When the entire leadership of a district will help a woman divorce her husband without cause, it does matter what is happening outside your congregation.
Forget what is happening outside your local LCMS, what matters is what happens in your local church. If you like what happens in your local church, then that is all that matters. No need to be upset. You will be affected more by what happens in your local LCMS and that is…
The problem with the bacon cheeseburger test is that the worst elements (read: majority of adherents) of the ostensibly rejected religious groups are insincere and will just eat it anyway.
Sorry, I forgot to mention the “guiding principles” such as Lordship Theology and Evangelical-style personal relationships with Jesus, as well as how we are so accepting of divorce that we won’t stop our clergy from getting one, we’ll just teach you how to cope with it.
