The BWC is one of the cornerstones of the global non-proliferation architecture, and Australia has a strong track record of support including hosting the recent BWC Pacific Workshop, in Sydney, at which I was honoured to speak and meet my counterparts in the Pacific.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Biological Weapons Convention. Since 1975, Australia has strongly supported the BWC’s work in preventing the proliferation of some of the deadliest weapons in history and will continue to do so in the face of new and emerging threats.
🇦🇺 has a proud history of advocating for non-proliferation & disarmament and we’re continuing this important work with @ASEAN. Together with 🇵🇭 and 🇳🇿 Australia co-chaired the #16th ASEAN Regional Forum Inter-Sessional Meeting on Non-Proliferation and Disarmament in Manila
